the newer AWR mounts have been redesigned. we brought the concern to tony when the first one broke and mailed him a broken one as well. he is going with a newer style of bushing to correct the problem. initially the problem was that a two piece bushing was used, and since they are oriented vertically, the stress on them acts differently than if the bushing were mounted horizontally as they are in all the other mounts he has designed. he has long been aware of the problem and it has been corrected.
we are more than happy to replace the mount if it is bought from us or reimburse the customer.
now, no offense to mazda or this car, but if the tranny mount had broken as they have been doing, that would indeed cause undue stress on the other mounts. since the car only has three engine mounts, if one were to break, you are now asking two mounts to deal with entire power output of the engine.
it should be clarified as there appears to be confusion, the AWR mount is NOT the same as the tranny mount which has been breaking, and most of the cars with the broken tranny mount have NOT had the AWR mount in it to cause that tranny mount to break.
