Has anyone tried these tires? They seem fairly new so not much reviews on tirerack. They are pretty well rated by both tirerack tests and customer reviews. It looks like they will be a little more comfortable riding while giving up a little handling performance vs the Yoko Parada Spec-X. They cost more but have a much higher treadwear. As of now it looks like these are the 2 best tires for the GT in 245/50 20.

IMHO, the best two tires are the H/L 422 Ecopia and the Michelin Latitude tour HPs. The Spec-X are a great tire for traction and noise, but have poor wear (documented). The thing that turned me off was the lower wet and dry traction of the 422's. Don't just pay attention to the specs tab on Tire Rack, as those are user data input, but look at the test tab. The Spec-X has never been tested for Tire Rack even though it has been a very popular tire among CX-9 Users (odd). The Latitudes have a special compound that lowers static friction supposedly, therefore increasing MPG; the jury is still out on that one for me. If you are going to spend $920 on 422s, IMO go the extra $70 and get the Latitudes. I am really impressed by them.

I previously had the Pirelli Scorpion STR-As. They were a good tire that I changed out at 47K, but they had a bit more tread life on them. The roads here have a lot of crushed marble in them, so when it rains they get slick. I slid often with the Pirellis, but I have had the chance to try the Latitudes on the wet roads here and I can say that they are far superior. The tread blocking system on the tires hold up on cornering because trust me, the average speed on the autostrada is 80 mph and the smaller roads are windy too.

I wouldn't put Bridgestone tires on my car if they were given to me for free. But that is just my opinion. Their oem tires they put on cars are junk (in my humble opinion), and I just don't think the quality of their tires is up to par. Again, just my opinion.

I am a big fan of Kumho/Nitto/Pirreli/Continental/Yokohama etc. I'm not down with the Goodyear/Kelly/Bridgestone/Firestone crowd. Just the fact that they charge 200 per tire for junk is astounding.

Debbie Downer, signing off.
