what did you use to clean the calipers before painting? did you spray the paint or brush it on?

I used a wire brush attached to my cordless drill. It worked great! Also, I sprayed the paint into a big gulp cup and brushed it on with a sponge-brush. The reason that I didn't use a bristled brush is I didn't want brush-marks, and the reason that I brushed the paint on was I didn't wanna tape everything off.

Pics for Lazyme-

Lazyme, I used the G2 and just finished it. I recommend the G2 product and the entire project (including locating anything extra needed for the project) took me less than 2 hours.

Sorry for the Size!

Are jack stands cheap? I want to do the g2 kit, but all I have is the standard factory jack, and I fear it would take me too long to go from wheel to wheel trying to paint everything. I want to get it up off the ground, but I don't have jackstands.

Wow, Heathen23, that looks sweet. I patinted my a few days ago too. Used VHT blue while painted it with a brush. I was happy with it until I saw yours. The G2 does actually give a "plastic" look to the calipers; hope it's not just the reflection from the flashes. What do you know Heathen23? Does it have a plastic look? I am sure VHT doesn't; even you try painted it with several coat to make it think....still metal....

Ph0enixrising-

Jackstands can vary in price. I knew I wasn't working under the car with the jackstands so I just picked up a cheap set at Sears that came with a much better jack than the one from our trunk. You can spend a ton of cash on stands but my entire set ran about $25.00 (w/ jack and 2 jackstands). I use ramps to work under a car as jackstands make me a little nervous;) If you want to do it by the instructions but cheaply just go to pep boys/autozome/wallmart and buy 4 jackstands and just lift the car initially with the mazda jack (but don't leave that jack on). The G2 paint gets very thick after about 45 minutes so I recommend doing all four at once. It get's easier to paint as it thickens but the first coat goes on well while the paint is thin for spreading. BTW ask around to your neighbors if they are friendly. Many people have jackstands and or decent jacks collecting dust in their garage :)

Thank you for the compliment!!!! I would definitely say it gives the calipers a "plastic" look because it shines beyond belief. Keep in mind the Flash made them look a little more orange but the shine factor is pretty accurate in the pics. I used one thin coat and then when the paint thickened a little I put on a second. After the second it was so glossy I was worried something was wrong

Although the cost is high, I highly recommend the g2 system. Because it came with all the basics including caliper cleaner it made the job very easy and come out with what I'd like to think is a "show" quality look.

great job fellas

great worksmanship fellas. If the 99 LX had all four calipers symetrical I'd probably consider the mod. You guys make it tempting.

hey Heathen23, maybe a far shot?

U got it Dex! I didn't post far pics before because I finished the project and took the original pics at 11:30pm in my garage.

She's not clean, but you get the picture. Go easy if you don't like it ;)

i just picked up some anodized blue Duplicolor paint and i'll be working on my calipers this weekend, i'll let you all know how it goes.

You see that ....... nothing in my opinion looks better than the G2 caliper paint system .... I'm so glad that is iwhat I did too!

Yeah, I'm quite impressed in how it turned out. The color is outstanding and the application was a piece of cake. I just wish I would have been able to line up the wheel spokes to show how freakin' big they look!

does any body have any pics of their midnight blue with calipers painted?? im debating on what color to paint mine.

Damn Heathen that looks soooo good. I don't know what it is about those Racing Hart Wheels, but everytime I see a picture of them they look so shiny. I've seen them in person and they don't look as good as they do in pictures. Hey I guess they're like supermodels
