After recieveing intrest in how I mounted my 1.8 coils on my 2.0 I am posting this. No this is not a proven performance mod, before people start. There is a thread that beat it to death. I did this to relocate the coils away from the majority of the heat. For example right on top the head or better yet right above the exhaust header. So this is for the others who might want to get an idea.

First you need a couple feet of flat stock. Better to have some spare just in case. 2-3 feet. You can buy it at any home improvement store. The gauge is not to important as it dose not need to support alot of weight (just the coils themselves). I went a little big because I had scraps laying around. I also used 3 1/4-20 bolts about 3/4" in length with washers and nylock nuts.

Bend a 90 degree corner in the end approximately how far back you want the coils to sit. Then cut it at the length of how far you want the outside of your coils to sit from the block. See later pic to see how it bolts up.

Drill a hole just big enough to fit the bolt off your thermostat housing in the top corner. See stock bracket in picture below as a guide for hole placement.

Drill two holes for your coil bracket to bolt to your new bracket.

Drill a hole on a new piece of stock so it sits flush with the coil brackets bottom and sides as pictured here and bolt it to it.

Test fit and use a straight edge to mark the place to put your 90 degree bend to reach the front hole on your thermostat housing in the picture.
Also measure the distance you will need it to be cut at.

Mark where you need your hole to be and drill.

Reassemble both brackets to the coils and....

Hope this helps. Also paint the steel as it will rust very quickly.

there is not a lot of heat in the top of this engine... i was only thinking why the coils of 2.0l didnt work with your setup?

To do this you do not need a 626 valve cover but it makes it look cleaner but you do need a set of 1.8 coils and a set of 4 wires of your choice. I was getting a bunch of bad coils repeatedly so i took the existing debate and used this to make it a little better and has not failed me since.(2cents)
