BPV Vs BOV

not sure... some cars are set up for either one or the other.

with the MS3, SU recommended either the Forge bypass valve or the turbosmart dual port (BPV+BOV). i'd probably choose the Forge unit. the dual port can give you the BOV sound that many like, but apparently venting too much to atmosphere can cause the car to run too rich/backfire and probably make the gas mileage crap as well.

i've used a forge valve on a previous car and was VERY happy with it.

there has been tons of posts about this...omg just search or in face i am sure you can find it in just a page or two considering its the same question everyone asks...

only pro the BOV has is sound. BPV is what the car is designed for. Running with a BOV you will definitely run rich between shifts and can cause the car to pop and stuff a lot. The car won't feel as smooth when you let off the gas in gear (run rich again). If its not adjusted right or not stiff enough it will not idle right.

With that said, I am running an HKS in VTA/bov mode because I can't get my recirc hose to fit. It's perfect at idle, and very smooth in general (probably not quite as good as the stock bpv though). It does run rich though between shifts.

Gas mileage should be the same....maybe a tiny worse (not sure), but it wont kill MPG or anything

I agree. I bought the Forge BPV and installed it last week. Seems to work very well. Have to get used to the big metallic ping when the valve opens (blue spring) as opposed to the big whoosh of air sound I used to get with the stock valve sounding thru my MS CAI.
Does anybody know any power number differences between the original MS cat back and the new single cat back system? If it only gives the 5 HP like the old one it's not a cost effective option. Has anyone even seen one yet also?
I have a lot of contacts at Mazda from my SCCA racing days not to mention I've been a Mazda Competition member since 1987.
