bov,what can i do?

you might wanna think about being a little more specific in your question. BPV? Im guessing you mean Blow off Valve? Get an intake (injen makes one) it will make it a little louder. eventually you will get used to the sound and learn to love it.

Is wut other drivers hate to hear..."

Little louder really doesn't describe the INJEN accurately...I was behind a Proto DX w/ HKS axle-back exhaust this weekend, and he could hear it at speed. It does sound slightly like a turkey call, though, when it re-circs. You can get a turbo xs BPV like some people on here. I'm not sure how that sounds, though. I want a different sound, but I don't want to seem too ricer-esque, so I may go with something like that or the greddy or HKS, but I'll probably still re-circ.

Actually he is right. It is BPV because we have a bypass valve.

HKS supersequentials are my fav. anyone making a flange for aftermarket bov yet? Or has anyone tried venting this one to the atmosphere?

Can anyone running a different valve, with the recirculation fitting, vouch for a improvement in the sound? I think someone on the board called it the dying squirrel sound :( Since I put in the Ingen, it is much MUCH louder and annoying. But at least the car feels ALOT smoother.

Thanks,

Check with SuperSpud. He has the Turbo XS, also check JDM sam for a recirc'd HKS. Unless you're upping the boost though, don't expect too much from the recirc'd HKS.

I think someone got the hks ssv to vent air into the atmosphere without any problems. I'm not exactly sure who that was though.

Which one do you have? I will be upping the boost in the near future, just slowly getting my mods in. Did the Ingen last night, and will hopefully be putting in HIDs tonight. Will be putting in a boost gauge once I can get the paint right on my pillar pod.

It was Rx-Kevin...it's not the simplest thing to set-up, and if you drive like a putz it'll stall. Spud hasn't posted anything about his TurboXS yet. Oh...also, 03speedLSD (orange car, hardpipe Kit) is venting a greddy Type-s (purple top) So the people to ask are

1) SuperSpud
2) RX-Kevin
3) 03speedLSD
4) JDM Sam
5) Terry (Spoolin...they're working on Cirelle's car)

What I want to know is how to get either the greddy type s or the hks ssv to vent into the atmosphere without stalling. I'm not gonna get one if i have to recirculate it.

They'll both work without stalling...the springs are tight at idle. It will stall if you romp on the gas and them drop to neutral. Those guys (well...2,3,5) have experience with that setup, so they'll all know.

I would prefer not having to worry about stalling at all. Not that I'm in the habit of standing on the gas then going to neutral just for fun, but its just one thing that I kind of would not want to worry about. Is there reallly anything besides recirculating that can alleviate this problem? Rather how big of a problem is the stalling issue with open vent.

if you don't wanna worry about stalling, then get something to control the fuel system (i.e. greddy emanage). it will be able to react to an open bov and pull fuel so you won't stall/stumble. but don't use an apexi safc......they just don't work on our cars. period. some people are trying to use older versions of the safc...i dunno if those will work.

and if you want to know how bovs will sound, check this website out.

note that all of these are venting to atmosphere. if you recirculate, it'll just be quieter. but put an intake on (sri or cai) and you should hear it just fine.

Still looking for anyone running a non-stock bypass-valve, that can vouch for it sounding any different than the stock nasty gurgling sound.

Thanks,

I have a Forge Motorsports DV on my GTi and with a CAI it sounds almost exactly like a BOV. It's loud enough that people on the street look over everytime. Anyone try a Forge? They are really well made, they alsomake atmo venting valves. http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/
