Well, yesterday I got my raise, so I went to Morrie's after work and bought my speed.

They're installing the winter wheels/tires and the moonroof, and making sure the ecu/bushings are taken care of, and I should have it tuesday night or so.

I can't wait!

Congrats. Let us know how the sunroof works out for you. That's one thing I wish it came factory with.

Some people don't like them, and believe they ruin the structural integrity of the car. You obviously like them. He obviously does not. I concur with him, and think they are a waste. If you use it then it's more power to you.

It will ruin the structural integrity of the car. But it doesnt matter if you want this car for daily driving. It cartainly makes the car more luxurious and feel better.

I'm happy that you like your car and I am also happy that you like your "Moon Roof" ( Unlike others here ).

Nice Purchase

A completely closed roof that close to my head feels a bit claustrophobic. My first car had glass t-tops, and my second and third cars had sunroofs.

You shouldn't be "sorry" his car may or may not have marginally less structural rigidity than yours, why do you care? :p

not marginal my friend.......not marginal

i personally love moon roofs, i would love if this car was able to have one without messing with integrity of the body.

but at any rate, enjoy it, it gives your car a personality that's just a little different than most of the cars here :D

congrats on your purchase of the speed. what color speed did you get?

lol, I knew I'd get s*** for the moonroof.

I've missed my sun/moon roof since the first car I had, an 86 camry with one.

The regular protege has a sunroof as an option, so it's obviously designed to have one in there. It's not like they're gonna cut through part of the frame to wedge a sunroof in there or something. I'm more worried about the weight than the structural integrity of the car.

I do plan on autocrossing the car, but not modifying it, and I'm a beginner, so it won't be the car holding me back for a few years yet. I'd rather have a sunroof every day than one tenth of a second on a track once a month.

I'm also adding a turbo timer and cruise control, and if I can find a safe way to do it, remote start would be nice. (especially days like today, -5 degrees!) It's coming from the dealer with steelies and winter tires, and it's titanium.

I'll post my production number when I actually take delivery... yay!

So they must do it on the regular protege too right? Isn't it the same roof structure?

congrats! I'll see you around the cities. I saw a speed with black steelies and no caps the other day and it actualy looked good. I may do that and save the money (on Winter alloy rims) for something else like radar. Have fun!
