Both key fobs stopped working!

Last night all was fine. Today I attempt to lock the car, fob no workie. Second fob no workie!. All doors closed, nothing out of the ordinary going on. I can open the doors with the key and lock with door lock button. Absolutely no mods. What gives? The car is going in on Wednesday for first service at 1500 miles, so I will bring it to the SA's attention.

First thing I'd check is fuses. I believe there is a fuse that ties into the keyless entry, along with a few other things. Any other electronics in the car not working as well, such as the radio, climate control, backlighting, gauges, odometer, etc??

Thanks. All other functions operating normally I think. Didn't run everything at once such as air, stereo, etc. Will try fuses, however I think I'll let the dealer troubleshoot.

Gotta be related to the keyless entry module as it's not likely that both key fobs will stop working all of a sudden. I would check the fuses first or if you're going in for service anyway, let them do it.

Good point, you could have a bad module, or the wiring going in to it. It could be as simple as a loose connection going into it.

Are you getting the "Key In" chime without the keys in the ignition when the driver's door is open?

Not really. It happened to me with the Speed6.

Really? The gas door? I know this has happened to me with one of the doors cracked, but I wouldn't think the gas door could do that. I'm going to try this out when I leave work.

Update: It's not the gas door as I thought. Today after short drive, same thing happened again, key fob won't lock or unlock. Guess I have an intermitent problem.

I think we've RE-learned a valuable lesson...don't count your key fobs until they hatch or something.

Right, so it's not really unlikely, because it happened to me.

Not being a DB FTW.

I have probably helped 5 or more people on this site diagnose problems with their cars and have been right almost every time, so maybe you should give me a bit of credit here.

Dude, batteries are cheap, it's worth a shot.
