both headlights not working

Sometime in the last day or two, both of my headlights quit working. My first thought was a fuse...but then i realized the left and right headlight are each on their own individual fuses. I checked them anyhow, and they are both good. My second guess was maybe a problem with the switch not working. However my fog lamps will come on when i turn the headlight switch to full on and they will turn off when only it is switched back to parking lights. I'm curious if anyone has ever had this happen to them and if there is an easy fix for it? If not I guess I will just have to start tracing the wiring back.

btw its a 2002 Protege ES

looks like both bulbs were burnt out...what are the odds of both of them going within a day? (hand)

i know p5's have a lot of problems burning bulbs.

how is your battery or alternator? both of mine blew in one day when my alternator went bad. voltage spikes.

good idea, ill check my alternator out...dont remember replacing it in this one ever. almost to 140k, so wouldn't surprise me
