DGTrials, Festive Garage, 5Zigen and VIR are proud to present the Bosch Octoberfest Gymkhana Weekend! If you like gymkhana, are perhaps tired of the same-old autocross routine or just want to try something different, come out for a fun weekend and the opportunity to explore the limits of the 2009 Volkswagen GTI for free!

Location:
Virginia International Raceway Skidpad
October 3rd & 4th 2009
Tech-in: 7:30AM
Mandatory Driver's Meeting: 8:50AM
First car: 9:00AM

Driver cap: 40
5 run goal each day, "fun runs" if time allows.

Classing:
This event will feature open classing. What does this mean? Run what you brung in one of three classes:

FWD: Front Wheel Drive
RWD: Rear Wheel Drive
AWD: four-wheel or all-wheel drive

Points & Scoring:
Winners will be determined by FTD within the class.
Knock a cone out of the box/over = +2 sec
Completely miss a gate = no score
Off course = no score

This will be an autocross-style event. If you are not driving you will be asked to shag cones. Fortunately, the entire course is only comprised of 15 cones!
15 cones?!

Volkswagen Challenge:
The Bosch Octoberfest Gymkhana Weekend will also be including a sub-event, the Volkswagen Challenge. The Volkswagen Challenge will allow entrants to take two runs in one of the available 2009 Volkswagen GTIs provided by Volkswagen of America. Fastest time of the weekend in the VW challenge will win prizes provided by Volkswagen of America. Your spot in the Gymkhana Weekend guarantees you a spot to participate in the VW Challenge an added bonus, free! Two hours each day of the gymkhana will be dedicated to the VW Challenge.<!-- sig -->

Should still be fun though. They did an "autocross" on it last year during GT LIVE with Volkswagen. Time for VIR to make a bigger skidpad? (dunno)

We've got a crowd coming from Central Virginia. I think we'll have a pretty good group camping in tents too.

New info for Freedom Autosport:

Viewing Party - you'll be able to check out the races in the comfort and chairs and big screen TV in their paddock!

Crew Member for a day - we're going to see if we can raffle off 3 positions to help with the crews for all 3 Freedom cars

I also just got this from VIR:

"At the fan parties, music on the PA will start as soon as the track goes cold. Then the band Nex-Faze will take the stage from 7:30-10:30 on both Friday and Saturday. Nex-Faze plays an awesome mix of classic rock, 80's, 90's & modern rock and country as well. The VIR Girls will be at the parties with various give-aways for the fans from our sponsors. And what would Octoberfest be without beer? Special sponsors of the fan parties are Spaten and Leinenkugel's Octoberfest - two premium beers that will be served at the fan parties along with food for those that work up an appetite dancing! "

Beer, music, girls... and racing! (2thumbs)
