Boosting automatics

though a boosted auto isn't ideal it's still fun. i don't even use manual mode unless i want to play, and it's holding up just like before the turbo.

i can say it's damn fun to smoke some cocky guy in his tricked out car while waving out the sunroof, since i just smoked him with one hand.

i drive much of my driving on SoCal freeways and there is no way i'll put up with a manual like i did in my last car. though mtx is definately more fun, i can hang with most mtx guys on open track courses.

turbo auto = waste of cash

and yeah. i know, i owe a how-to... it's really not on the top of my list of to do's :P
i have it all in my head... but free time is precious to me... so i don't really wanna sit at a computer and write 10 pages on how to do this.
just bring me your car and i'll do it over a weekend :P

the idea of boosting an auto is great... you never lose the power while shifting.... buuuuuut, you also have to get a BEAST of a tranny in there to take the power... only place i found that had proven power-taking trannies was Lentech..
all they want there is your money - but they do have a good product.
they weren't willing to do anything for me... so it would have run me about cdn$4000 to get a 275whp-safe ATx.
Instead.. i opted into doing the ATx > MTx swap which ran me cdn$1500 and 28hrs of labour (Free)
The stock tranny's dealt fine with my boost so far.. i'll spend like $500 and a stage2 clutch... which'll last me up to 250+whp... so for $2000, i get something more fun to drive than $4000 would have gotten me - it's just the smart choice.

Send Questions to me if interested. We did the swap at my house..

it's just a matter of getting all the parts the FIRST time around... versus going back to the stealership over and over

Yeah!...only difference with our swap, we went to a junkyard. These cars are all over the place now, new ones totaled arriving every day!

Lets start the list, all that comes into my mind right now:

1. Transmission (of course) with all sensors and hardware(some rewiring required if you want speedometer to work)
2. Starter <--- very important
3. Wiring harness (not so important, I would keep auto wiring)
4. ECU ( to do things right, but you may keep auto ecu, car will work, but with CELs and a blinking O/D and no speedometer unless you do some splicing)
5. front transmission mont
6. Axles
7. Shifter Assembly
8. Slave clutch pump
9. Clutch Assembly and Flywheel
10. Bolts
11. Clutch pedal with sensor
12. ????

that's the gist of it.
i didn't do mine half-assed... only thing i did wrong was wrong ECU (need a new part # to get speedo working)
If a dealership looked at my car.. they wouldn't know it was auto - despite electrical tape everywhere... and the wrong steel plate between the tranny and block

starters are easy to find... most junkers have them.
there's a NICEABLE difference between the 2.
one on the right is the manual
