Boosting an auto p5?

Getting back to the subject, Talk to Bazooka Joe (aka Mark) He's got a boosted auto p5 that gives me wet dreams. When we talked about it, he said that he really only gets into the boost when he's passing someone or getting on the highway, but he doesn't really abuse the tranny. It is possible to boost an auto, but who could resist getting on the throttle? I know I couldn't

I know but i was just curious the response will be why waste your time but it might make a good topic. Just wondering even with boosting lets say 5to7 pounds, would a auto tranny hold in the p5's of course i would go with the basic pistons and rods etc.. but this is for the future my days with that fast life are put away for awhile but it might make it alittle more fun2 drive. This is a topic of interest to me so plz feel free 2 comment thx.

Wow, Those prices are very reasonable. And to all you Auto-Haters. Many dragsters have autos. I think a bullet-proof auto in a turbo street car makes a lot of sense.
yeah, they're reasonable....but then you add on the turbo. if i had that much money to just throw to the wind, i'd love to turbo my auto p5. but seriously, is it worth all that time, money, and effort?? might as well go out and sell your auto p5 and buy a manual one. probably be less of a hassle in the long run.

not saying it wouldn't be cool, though!

Rome wasn't build in a day, same could be said for a project car.

Great, now all they have to do is throw a brick on the gas pedal!

Really, the point is that a manual transmission is key to driving enjoyment. I would rather have a 200hp manual than a 500hp auto in the same car.

Not that I don't agree with you about stick being most of the fun. Any car out there, domestic, import, muscle is better off manual. However, 500hp is pretty friggin' fun....trust me. Even an auto. My buddies 82 SLAMED S10 pickup hooked up with a 350 crate, elelbrock carb, intake mani, headers, posi, fuel cell ect.. IS FRIGGIN CRAZY!!

Not saying that this things 500hp, but its an auto and hella fun. really fun. (laugh)

Autos will ALWAYS be more consistant than manuals!

I could care less how much more the auto has to be built. If I were drag racing, I would NEVER use a manual, I love them to death for canyon carving, or autocrossing, but, you don't NEED much power to do eith one and have a good time, all you need is a tight suspension, a relatively light car, and a manual tranny, oh and great tunes! However, in the drag racing world, consistancy is key.......auto owns all in drag racing.

Nice..

Oh, I love manuals. I won't drive anything else.

The point of this thread was someone wondering if you can boost a P5 with an automatic transmission.

Yes you can. You will enjoy the car SO much more on just 5 to 7 psi than on stock or a bunch of BS NA mods.
