Boost #s

After driving the car, I still think the 170hp is underated.

Just seems like more. Then again, I never had a chance to REALLY, and I mean REALLY drive it. But that's my 1st impression.

chdesign,

What kind of power are we talking about here, I mean for a nice turbo it would cost like 3G's but with the stock internals handle the power.. I know we do have alot of room but is it enough??

What was the amount of boost that you swore they ran? There was a big debate about it?

Yep, 9 psi...go check the Protege FAQ, states 9 there too...

I believe I already said that I was wrong in the other thread...

uh oh, here we go. everyones gonna be raggin on stutters now.

look at the hole your dug for yourself man :D

hehe

According to Mazdaspeed R&D the stock rods are good for 225whp but apparantly Terry has been running this in his MP3 for a while with no problems so they may be good for more. as for an overrated HP rating.....i doubt that this is Mazda not Dodge.....They are not going to put more power through that engine than what is well within safe limits. This is a factory warrentied TURBO KIT. Its not a motor engineered for a turbo just a turbo kit guys. The Neon SRT-4 has a purpose build turbo motor and runs up to 17 psi at times dpending on engine load and operating conditions the ECU modifies the boost level to optimise power kinda like the EVO 8 which runs up to 19 psi. but anyways i'm getting off subject. You want power in the MSP the turbo and IC are the first things that are going to need to be changed if you want some real power gains.

I didn't dig a hole for myself...I was simply stating what I had gotten from a different source. Everyone else went ape s*** when I said it, and they are still going ape s*** apparently.

No worries on my end.
