Boost Leak Test

Hi,

I would like to check my car for boost leaks I have read many writeups on the net for different cars but none for the MS3, plus all the writeups seem a little different, so has anyone done it here?

If so I have some questions:
1) What size is the inlet on the turbo?
2) I am not at home for till Saturday so I cant look, is the turbo inlet easy to get at.
3) do I need to remove and or plug any other hoses during testing
4) What pressure should I test to, Im stock.
5) Should I remove the oilcap
6) How many clamps are there.
7) do you recommend replacing the stock clamps with t bolt clamps first
8) Any other recommendations/issues I should be aware of

When I do it Ill post a "How to" but wont be till end of month at the earliest. Too busy.

Would love to know also, I would test the stock clamps. Just make sure that they are nice and tight before you test. They tend to loosen up over time.

well you should atleast go to the stock pressure mabe 2-4 over. useing any cars instructions will work it wont tell you the exacts but the general stuff would work size of the inlet is small i think its under 2 in. should only have 4 clamps to check. at stock psi you should be good with stock clamps you can upgrade if you want.

ive read its recommended to connect directly to the turbo and not to the plastic 'turbo inlet' pipe. Which means you'll probably have to take the battery box out.

if you end up doing this let us know exactly what materials are needed...i wouldnt mind doing htis myself!
