If you want a solid gauge taht will match the stock illumation, buy a premium series peak/warn prosport boost gauge in amber. That's soon on my list. Someone already has one installed on his steering column in red and it matches great. I have 4 prosport gauges i my MR2 and they are wonderful and accurate.

I'm using a prosport premium, it matches pretty well. I'm not liking the warning buzz and gauge flash at the peak which you have to reset every time you start the car. If I could go back I would buy the plain amber. Electonic is the way to go also. You have a small sender under the hood and the wires are easy to pass throught your hood release cable grommit. A mechanical runs a line from the gauge to the engine. If I was rich I would get a defi and if I was plain I would buy an autometer. The prosport is quite ms3.

You probably have both wires set to accessories. You need to have the red wire hooked to a constant power supply (e.g. battery) to keep the memory even after the key's off.

The install is basic but takes time. If that makes sense. I had trouble running the wires from the steering column to the passenger side but all went well. I have a prosport gauge as well but bought it in blue since thats all I was able to find at the time. I will buy the amber one once its available and then sell the blue one. It works perfectly. Its an awesome gauge IMO.
