Hi Folks..

What exactly do the Boost Controllers do and how do they increase the power in the car? Any complications?

Thanks
Simon

they up the boost in the car thus making more power, complications...well if you up the boost too much past the efficiency range of the turbo you'll probably blow the turbo among other things.

Has anyone tried the AEM Tru Boost Gauge/Controller? I am thinking about picking this up and was wondering if anyone had thoughts?

well if boost controller is your thing then go for it, i am waiting until i get an ECU/Standback of some sort to configure boost. so far i'm loving the CP-E standback, although the software looks somewhat scary lol..i think it looks like an awesome way to control boost levels (read into their PID boost loop shiz, its intriguing and looks to be very safe for your motor..unlike a boost controller)

the last time i used a boost controller..it was a custom-made-jimmy-rigged-P.O.S. valve that i made up in my garage, and to be honest i bet it worked just as well as that "tru boost controller" does only not as fancy looking lol.. and it was probably the reason my 79' 2.3l turbo stang doesn't run anymore (i'm fixing it though, so the speed can have another 2.3l boosted lover ;-p)

After 17 psi. the stock turbo begins to lose efficiency and acts erratically.
