Boost controller & BOV - HP increase, potential engine hazard?

I spoke with the guy that has the Orange Mica MSP in my area last night. He has already added a boost controller, and BOV. He has quite a bit of experience with turbo systems, mods, etc...

He thinks he has increased it to another 10-15hp. Sweet! He really likes the performance difference. He did say however, that he isn't sure how the engine will be down the road, since it is essentially the ES 2.0 liter with the turbo system added. Is it capable of 200hp or whatever, without straining the engine too much?

I sure don't know, as this is my first experience with a turbocharged car, and I sure as hell don't want to go and screw something up!! Besides; I'm no mechanic. I wash, wax, and drive my cars. I leave the 'tuning' to others.

So, for now; I will sit back and observe. He did mention that a K&N cone filter will drop right onto the stock airbox pipe, after removing the box. I might go ahead and do that.

Did you tell him about this forum? It would be really nice to get another ethusiat who is modding there cars. I wonder how much he has set his maximum PSi to? Did he mention if he had any problems with the BOV that he got?

Yes; He knows about the forum. But, I think he would rather be out playing with his 'toys' (also has a turbo Integra, turbo MR2 Toyota, & VR-4 Galant) then playing on the PC.

He said originally, he measured the boost at 6 psi in stock form. I think he has it around 9 psi now. He wants me to drive it. He said it is sweet. It's actually his wife's car. She was used to this Integra turbo (under 14s in the 1/4), so the stock MAZDASPEED wasn't enough for her!

Yes; he is really into Boost.

Well good I'm glad to here that I have a profec-B but I'm waiting to get a downpipe to install my greddy A/F gauge and find out the injector size on these cars (anyone?). Can u find out how much boost he is running exact and if he has an A/F gauge how the mix is?

450cc injectors are what the p5 es and mp3 have...but IM not sure about the msp

That sounds A little big for an NA car.
DSMs have 450cc
Silvas have 370cc

Uh,...No. Try about 250 to 275cc.
