Boost Controller 4 MSP

I want to get a manual boost controller for my MSP. My friend has installed them b4 on civics but i was woundering if any of you have put on on your MSP yet if so any info would be greatly appreciated :)

I truthfully don't recommend uping the boost. You're already running 9psi on a 9.1:1 compression engine. anything more than that may blow the engine. But that's just my opinion.

Do you smoke crack! they run 5 - 6.5 stock. anyways yes very easy to install. splice into your wastegate line. If you want a pro install look at the dsm boards. Those guys are manual boost controller crazy

actually I just quit working for mazda on friday and have the mechanics manual for the car and the salemans manual. and they both state 9psi stock.

The motor can handle ten easy. twelve on a regular basis as far as anyone knows so far.

The 9 psi issue has been covered numerous times, and people who have put a boost gauge on the car are reporting boost in the 6-7 range...

Also dangerous to the transmission. Be careful, thats all I say

The tranny can handle in the 250 whp neighborhood...How is turning up the boost dangerous to the tranny?

well the manual can suck it cause i was running bout .46 -.47 bar stock with my BOOST GAUGE

D iamond S tar M otors (Eclipses, talons and Gvr4s)
I dont remember the site anyone??

Install an A/F gauge before you turn up the boost - even a wideband O2 sensor if you can. Listen carefully for knock. The injectors are probably not sized to run 12 psi.

I've been told the stock ECU for the MSP will shut down at 10 psi.

I'm sellin a manual boost controller if your interested :) oh yeah and the MSP doesn't have a cut out at 10 psi I-Am-Chris found that out for us. Also he is right about the boost level we are measuring the same levels on my friends MSP with a Blitz boost gauge....we are partial to blizt round these here parts can you tell by my sig?? lol

I was not aware that the tranny could handle that much more hp. I was told that the reason the MSP was limited to 170hp was because the transmission couldnt handle any more?

HAHA thx. Couldnt remember. My friend has owned like 3 GVR4s
Yeah on the wideband it reads around low 10's stock for the A/F (covered in another thread) Which means you can turn up the boost safely. I havent done it with the boost cranked yet but i will on FRI. Get back to you on that.

The tranny can handle more than the MSP puts down, easy...

The car runs WAY too rich, it can handle more boost but will still be lacking power. The tranny is capable of over 210whp. Look at all the FM Turbo guys running around in MP3's they put out much more power. The car needs no more than 230whp to dominate everything on the street. Even at 200 to the wheels it will be a monster.

230 to dominate everything on the street? You haven't been to Grand Junction yet :D The locals have learned not to mess with Miatas, because there's a good chance it's putting out 240 whp in a 2300lb car...

Why do you say the MSP runs rich?

I know, I helped Mark tune the 292whp 1.8 Miata that he was building for a customer out here. That thing was such a beast.

That was on 10psi with 100 octane.... I just wish we had bigger injectors we would have hit 350-375 no problem.

As for the MSP, it runs in the 10's on the wideband..... time for you guys to play around with those little black box chips and create a little something to lean it out towards 12-12.5'ish.
