hey guys ,i noticed lately, that at half throttle or more and only in 5th gear, my MSP seems to bogg, or buckle down.... the boost never goes past 10psi, the car was tuned by protege garage, and it runs great... besides what happens in 5th gear.
any ideas?? Ken??

5th gear for us is more of an overdrive, then an actual gear, With that said I still pull in 5th just really not that much, what speed are you going when you shift into 5th? and what RPM is it bogging at? You said it never goes past 10 PSI? what are you boosting? What are your mods? I hope your forged boosting over 10 PSI!!

well the car usually hold 9 lbs, but will sometimes spike to 11...
it has all the supporting mods and a safe tune which was done by protegegarage

and the wierd part is ,,, that preety much at ANY rpm in 5th and only 5th the car will do that. so if i wanna pass at 70mph , i either have to baby it in 5th or down shift to 4th

At 70 what RPM are you at in 4th?
I tend to hummmm along at 70 MPH in 4th at say 4-4.5K I think I really don't pay too much attention, I just shift when she sounds like she wants it, but I tend to stay in the higher RPMs since that's what our motors and turbo's like, I shift in the +5K range I know that.

you should be downshifting to 4th to pass anyways around that speed, i think. why lug the engine?

the car has plenty of power to pass in fifth at that speed, especially since at 70mph in fifth the cars at about 3000 rpm

im sure our gear ratios are the same, but why drive at 5k for 20 miles???? thats what 5th or overdrive are for,.
and i have the stock turbo, so it spools preety soon

anyway, there shouldnt be a reason why i cant hit it in 5th if i want right??
the car should go, not bogg

its generally advised on turbo cars not to use fifth gear as a passing gear. the amount of load you put on the engine and turbo at that gearing is actually pretty detrimental. i believe the new MS3/6 owners manuals even state to not use top gear as a passing gear or to make boost in that gear.

that being said, the tune might need adjustments now that the temperature is dropping, but we would have to see the car to be 100% sure of that.
