Body Protection

I'm trying to protect my new baby a little, but don't want to make it ghetto. I checked with Mazda on getting some OEM body side molding and door edge guards. After they gave me a number over $500, it took a while to stop laughing. (lol)

Does anyone know where (websites) I can order this kind of stuff that might come close to matching my whitewater pearl? I already checked under "Compiled List Of Parts/Accessories For The Mazda6...", but the stuff there would still cost almost $300. I'm thinking I should be able to find these for under $100? -- maybe not.

Won't find any pre-made ready to fit perfect kits for cheap... sadly... Such an "odd" item that anyone who does make it would have to charge an arm and a leg to make money off it...

And, if something is gonna damage the vehilce... a thin plastic won't help... Kinda like alarms... might make you feel better to have one.. but if someone wants your car... or the stuff in it.. they'll get it... and annoy the neighbors in the process...

IMO its luck of the draw... and smart driving / parking... My friends evo (recently wrecked).... 2004, with 7500 miles only... had 3 scratchs.. he never drove the thing!!! but s*** happens... And i've seen cars MUCH MUCH older than his... with flawless paint jobs.. and LOTS of miles.... Hell.. my new speed6, has had window broken... rim chipped... and plastic clip broken....

I know about the only place to get pre-made would be the dealer. I'd go for do-it-yourself, but I can't find "white" at places like J.C. Whitney. So, forget the pre-made route...anybody know where I could get "white" for body and door and stick it on myself?

well, the only way you can get the door moulding strips is to get them from a non-US dealer because that color isn't offered on the normal 6s in the US... you're looking at $200 for all 4 door moldings... to me, those make a huge difference in parking lot dings... I mean you'll still get some but it'll cut down that s*** a lot... you don't really need the door edge guards unless you like to swing the door open into something out of habit

anyway, the part numbers:
GJ6A-50-681-64 (front right door moulding)
GJ6A-50-691-64 (front left door moulding)
GJ6A-50-682-64 (rear right door moulding)
GJ6A-50-692-64 (rear left door moulding)

you can substitute the "64" with these other part color codes:
08 black mica
88 black cherry mica
87 velocity red
01 titanium gray
06 liquid platinum

I appreciate the info. How would I go about contacting/ordering from a non-US dealer? I'd still be OK with something generically "white", not necessarily "whitewater pearl".

My big question is Has anyone found mud flaps like the one's you can get for an STI. I really hate rocks and I have one chip on the drivers side already. I would like to prevent more.

Could have used some body protection ...

i feel ya man. some guy rear-ended me 3 months after i got my ms6. had to get the bumper, two exhaust tip moldings, one muffler, and the impact material replaced.. plus repainting and blending. allstate couldnt really get an accurate estimate since the cars so new and there's no costs for the parts. i think they just used costs for used 6 parts. i think the final costs came out to around $2500-$3000. looks like they'll probably just replace the bumper (which comes with the exhaust tip moldings) and that rear fender. really sucks being in an accident... its never the same anymore. well i hope you dont run into any problems getting it fixed. gl!
