Bluetooth iPod control?

Hey folks, new guy here. I have a question about the bluetooth functionality in my 3. I have an ipod touch, which obviously connects to the Bluetooth in the car, and it seems that i can pause and play from the large dial on the dashboard, but i cant seem to control any other functions like simply skipping to the next track. So i guess i have two questions. Has anybody had any success controlling other functions? Is the limitation on the iPod or the car?

Thanks

I believe it would be the car. In order to use both functions (phone and iPod Touch) you will have to get the integration done. I recommend the integration anywho because you can use the steering wheel functions to change songs/playlists etc. >>>I am not 100% sure though....just makes sense. I had the integration done in my 07 Speed and it was money well spent...

The integration also allows you to view track / artist data on the information screen. That said, we are fine with the bluetooth as the sound quality is good and it starts playing by itself when you get in the car. Can't really control much but it works for us. Bluetooth audio is essentially just an "audio input", doesn't really work for sending commands back to the player. The integration is very expensive on the '10.

The limitation is with the iPod. The iPod Touch/iPhone does not yet support Bluetooth AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile), which would allow you to use the dash & steering wheel controls.

My sales guy explicitly told me not to buy the integration kit; he said the quality is poor, and as nate0123 said, very expensive.

if you're jailbroken there's an app to allow control of the songs...it's for purchase, but has a free trial.

I'm not affiliated with it, but bought it after trying it out

it's called music control

It just so happens that I got a new blackberry from work which also can be an MP3 player. I was driving last night and playing a song, and i accidentally hit the button on the wheel that toggles radio stations, and it skipped to the next track. So it looks like it is an iPod thing. Hopefully they will come out with a fix.

i've posted this in a few places but my iphone and now my new droid (that is listed as fully functional with bt in the ms3) do not show song data on my nav screen.

Is the integration the wire harness they can install? if so my location is giving it to me for free because i made a HUGE stink.

Just wanted to chime in, with my iphone in my 3 I can change tracks on the steering wheel, and also change tracks on pandora when connected via BT, it just doesn't show the track info on the screen which I can deal with. Maybe one day I'll get the integration kit. Don't know if it's because it's an iphone or the car or what, I just know it works.
