BlueBatmobile's Yellow P5 foglight overlays!

11 Miata GT PRHT, 00 Silverado RCSB
Alright, first I'm going to say I should have:
1.) Waited until it was warmer
2.) Took my time with the first one more so
3.) Heated up the vinyl and surface longer (see number one)

All this because I got two nasty creases in my passenger side foglight while installing it. Vinyl loses a lot of adhesive properties when it's cold outside. Mine barely stuck at all (think colorforms back from the 80's) until I hit it with the blowdryer for a while..
Andy provides great instructions with his kits, but it was so cold out I could just pull them off without deforming the vinyl at all after they had been stuck down! So yes I recommend doing these in a heated garage or when it's warmer out (more than 9 degrees, lol) because it was so cold outside when I did mine that the extension cord i used for the hairdryer wouldn't bend. Anyways, I'm sure you're waiting for pictures, so here they are!

This is how it looks right out of the envelope, with the translucent yellow vinyl and backing tape.

Here's with the left one on and the right one stock. Because it's daylight it really can't show how yellow these really are. I'll see if I might be able to get more pictures tonight. No promises though. (explanation at the bottom)

Here's both fogs on after the vinyl was applied to both. Headlights are Arctic Purple Nokya, so it's even more contrasting.

Here's the left one, which has two creases and will have to be replaced because I was in too much of a hurry for the weather being so cold. :(

Here's two better pictures that show the color despite the daylight.

And here's a closeup of the one I didn't mess up. It does have a couple of air bubbles but I was freezing outside so I came in to warm up and post this before I fix them.

Overall I say Andy's product is awesome. They give me the EXACT look I was trying to get when I ordered yellow ion bulbs, and was sorely disappointed by them. It's easy to apply if you're patient (and don't do it when it's 9 outside) and gives a very nice look. Thumbs up to you Andy for a great product.. Now how much is it gonna cost me to replace the one I messed up? ;)

As I said earlier I will try to get pictures tonight but no promises. I installed these while the lights were on (more warmth and can see better) and because my license is suspended and I don't regularly drive my car, I found my battery would not start my car when I went to pull back all the way into the garage.. So I had to push my car back into the garage, lol. Then I dropped my digital camera (from a height of only 5" I might add) while I was coming inside and freaked out because the lens and the plastic ring that holds it in popped out and flew across the garage floor! Luckily it didn't break, the last thing I need is to replace a 550 dollar camera. So I almost didn't get to post pictures at all! Well, I'll see what I can do about night shots later on.

Again, awesome product Andy!

Yep, I'm interested too! Please give us the scoop, who we need to contact/PM, etc. They look exactly like what I'm looking for too.

I wonder though - how yellow do the lights look when they're turned off? I'm hoping there is a nice contrast....could you post a pic of that too? Turned off, in the daylight?

I was supposed to get them too, but too cold for them right now, so gonna have to wait a little longer.

If you take a look @ one of the pics, you can see the ground and how yellow it is..

Look great...

Yeah, that's the one advantage to living in FL - even during winter time, I'm thinking it's not too cold to put them on... :D

Nice write up!

Two things ...

~Do you have PIAA ION YELLOW blulbs installed too?
~Can you post pics w/o your lights on?

Thanx!

Alright guys, the forums seemed to be down last night so I couldn't post these, but I did get night pictures. So here we go.

This is how she looked last year.

And THIS is how it looks now. DAMN these are yellow! EXACTLY what I wanted!

Admittedly I do have some "ion-yellow" bulbs in the fogs, not the PIAA ones though. However, in the first picture I posted above with the white fog lights, yup, those are the "ion-yellow" bulbs. What a crock.

I'll go get some pictures without the lights on before I go to work and post them up for you.

If you guys want these, email Andy at dubbleA@peoplepc.com and let him know you want the yellow Protege5 foglight overlays. They were 10 bucks shipped for me.

Headlight bulbs are Nokya (now the company is SPW) Arctic-Purple. 55w so nothing gets fried. :)

Alright, light off pictures taken. I hope these are alright because I didn't feel like pulling the car out into the snow outside to take the pictures. Lights off, flash on the camera on. Pretty comparable to daylight.

EDIT: I love the way Laser Blue looks in photographs. :D

i want them, but then my car will look like ghost :( and i dont want to steal his style

If it makes you feel any better.. He's got different wheels.. :D

And about stealing style.. How many people with Eclipses have a Blitz kit on them? I think two white P5's with yellow fogs isn't such a bad thing.

As far as I can tell, they put out just as much light as the original foglights. Cameras tend to take pictures of light a bit differently than they do for an object, so it could be the camera too.

yes, but im also getting the lip and grill.........but he does have different wheels..hmmm

He used yellow Formula One tint on his fogs. One of our sponsors gave him the tint for free. They've lasted a long time and we hand cut them ourselves. Use a heatgun, that always works better. You can't beat a free mod. :D
