Blue Smoke On Startup-Burns Oil

I have a protege mp3 with 160,000 miles on it and when i start it up and for about 30 seconds after that it puts out alot of blueish colored smoke from the exhaust. Anybody know what could be causing this?? It also goes through oil pretty quickly. Much more than normal! Thanks for your help!

Sounds like valve guide seals.

yup, sounds like burning oil through the seals...

def sounds like valve seals!! you can usually pick up a good 40-60K mile head for around 100-125.. and get a new headgasket and timing belt.. and just do a top end overhaul.. this project usually will take approx 5 hours for experienced person.. give it about 8 if your not.. or take it to a shop if you arent confident under the hood... honestly.. a head swap will probably be cheaper than trying to have new valve seals put in the old head.. either way, head has to be taken off to fix it..
