BIG sale on Bridgestone RE-01R @ TireRack!! Closeout Pricing...

Thanks. I think I'll be picking up a set of 225/45/18s for $78/ea or the 235/40/18s for $108/ea. I don't need tires right this instant, but for this price.

Edit. When I tried to order the 225s online, it said they were out, so I called. The guy said they were out in that size, but were expecting more in a couple weeks and I could order at that price, so $350 total for a set of kick ass tires. Original price, $232/ea. Nice.

Will they fit on stock size rims? And will there be any rubbing? Cause that's a ridiculously good deal. Also, don't Extreme performance summers give up a little wet traction as well? Sorry for all the questions!

I have a set of Falken Azenis 615's I use for track days in that size (225/45). I have them on a set of 18" Momo rims. No issues with rubbing or anything. I had a few sessions in an event at Watkins Glen in the rain last summer and I left them on. I was quite impressed with the grip in the rain, I can see how they would be more likely to hydroplane though. But, these bridgestones look like they have a lot more tread to them. These are a great price for a summer tire, I wouldn't worry about wet traction too much, as long as you're aware and not tossing the car in corners when its raining you should be fine. I'm debating whether to get a set...price is too good!!

Damn this is tempting. I really wanted to try the Zstars but this is so cheap!

Figures, I just put the Dunlop Direzza sport Z1 star spec's on my car. I would have jumped all over the 225/45's...DAMN. (hand) $78. is just ridiculous.

I just posted a thread regarding the 225/45 size for stock wheels in another thread but figured i'd ask here too.

I'm with Saskatchewan17 on this one. I got questions because if this will work, i'm doin this tomorrow!

Yes, 225/45 will work on a 7" wide rim... the 225/40 that some are using with stock rim is questionable on a 7" wide rim... not recommended by tire installers or manufacturer's. That's the size I'm using with the Dunlops...

Which do you recommend for a 8 inch wide rim? I am clueless when it comes to tires

With an 8" rim you could go 225/40, 235/40, or even 245/40 if you wanted. The 225/40 recommended rim width is 7.5"-9', the 235/40=8"-9.5" wide and the 245/40=8"-9.5"... it's up to you which way to go. Depends on your driving habits, do you autox/race etc...

Too bad I only have 2700 miles on the RE050As, otherwise I would spring for this deal... It really seems like an excellently reviewed tire as well.

These tires were at one time the undisputed king of the "street tires" in SCCA Solo competition. As I mentioned before they're being replaced in Bridgestone's lineup by the upcoming RE-011.
