Haltech is very very expencive. + my buddys car took 2day just to get to idle. i wish i could go with that but i cant
How much is expensive? We sell them pre mapped and with a premade harness for proteges.

To be clear, they come with a 2 Bar MAP sensor, all connectors, a pre made harness for proteges and pre mapped ECUs.(2thumbs)

ive driven juans car before and it's the smooth as HELL.
if you want really BIG power go with the heltech. ive seen it in PERSON on the track and on the street. it really helps put the smack down on those other imports & domestic's.

To clarify about the haltech units.

1) You say they come with premapped ECU, the units are both standalones correct? The E6X replaces the entire protege ECU, thus when you say programmed ECU, you mean the unit comes preprogrammed right?

2)Is the program that comes with it going to be based upon modifications that have been made to the vehicle or is it just a standard base map for the protege that we will have to tune?

3)The units are connectable to laptops for easy program changing and management correct? (Do they come with the software?)

4)Is there a library of tuning maps that is downloadable so that when new modifications are added to the motor, a map for a vehicle with similar mods could be downloaded to better suit the current setup.

They are standalones but run parallel with the stock ECU. they control fuel (F10X) or fuel and timing (e6x) and the stock ECU is left to control everything else.

The preprogram is for the Hiboost kit i assume, which should be good enough for anybody to start with and tune yourself.

They are connectable to laptops via serial port and the software is available at the haltech website.

I dont know of an existing library.

The MPI is $795 and it controls fuel and timing. It is also on a MSP that put down 328whp at around 15psi on a modified T25. The T25 was more like the GT28rs and the boost hit 18pis, but went right down to 15psi because of the wastgate spring. He was on race gas too. This is a piggyback unit that controls fuel and timing for a lot less than a standalone that you run in parallel.

I'm not knocking the other units, but the MPI is cheaper and will do what is needed to do to make big power and also be reliable. I also passed MD state emissions with it in my car with flying colors. It is a very versitile unit and there is no need for bigger injectors. For the big power, you would want the xtra injectors to provide more fuel.

The MPI is the most widely used unit on protege's and there are tons of maps out there. It comes with SW and you connect to a laptop via a serial cable so YOU can fine tune a map to YOUR specific needs. It's very easy to use so the learning curve is pretty small.
