I had been lookind at my maz3i and something just didnt look right so I removed the side door ding guards and it was a huge improvement. The body lines actually look mean now. Instead a family sedan.

Anyone else removed them yet

Been there ... done that ;)

just do it.....you wont regret it at all.......it looks wayyy better kinda like a tsx/is300.........gotten many compliments on how it looks better with them off

I'm at work so I can't check, but doesn't the guard sit in a groove, or is it just flush on the door? How is it on there?

It is is anything like the P5 then it is just taped on there with no groves, and from the pictures it appears so.
Looks good.

jeez, that looks pretty nice! I guess I assumed when I first saw them on the car that they were built in. So they just peel of, eh?

Exactly. Stuck on with tape, and it's perfectly flat underneath.

Some people have mentioned that the paint is a different color due to fading and stuff, so I would assume the sooner youdo it, the better.

Ok - I cant figure it out, what exactly are the door ding guards?

n/m just walked outside to look at my car and figure it out. It DOES look better without them - but i'd be afraid of dings/dents in my door :(

Yeah, It looks GREAT now... Just wait a year or so and you'll be griping about all the door dings..

LOL..it does not protect you from getting door dings, it protects other cars that you hit with the door. (nana)

It doesn't protect you from really anything. If it were to protect other cars, it would be on the WIDEST part of the door. As far as protecting you, if you park near a SUV, Truck, you are not given any protection.

It won't protect you from any sedans either. Experiment: get 2 MZ3s next to eachother and see if when you open the door it will hit the moldings.

My guess is ...... no ;)

Well,
In previous experience not just an opinion, fellow members of my local club took the mouldings off their doors and got dinged.. I had my Grandprix for 6 years and the only ding I got was where the moulding wasn't.. (nana)

they are just there...shopping carts miss them as well. side skirts cetcth the shopping carts!

Like I said they are meant to protect the other car and not yours. You might get lucky and it will line up with another car, but protecting the Mazda3 was not the purpose of them.

weve had our sunfire since 01 and it doesnt have a single door ding, but we also dont cram our car into tiny parking spots up front where all the idiots park. i took my door moulding off on the 3 the first week i had the car.
