Better Ignition Coils

Last night, my car was re-tuned by JDM Sam, and I and it screams now. We noticed that up top, always around 6,000 RPMs, it seemed like the spark was cuttion out. Timing and fuel were great. As a result, I am researching better coils. I went to the Haltech site, and came across these:

LS1 Ignition Coil
A high energy single coil with 'built-in igniter'. For use with wasted spark and direct fire application.

and

Dual 12V Ignition Coil
A high energy single coil with two posts. For use with a wasted spark direct fire application.

Those who have upgraded their coils, what are your thoughts and input on the matter? Juan, Steve, Sam, Beau, yall out there?

Well, if it is for our cars are not is not important if you are running a Stand Alone already. I forgot to mention that part.

The stock coils are great. You just need to re gap the plugs a little closer and they will fine. In fact I use stock Protege coils in many of my 500+ cars.

They coils that you show in the picture will perform the same as the stock ones.
If you want a real spark, you must get a Dual igniter from Haltech a couple of MSD 6A and a coil pack from MSD. This will give you very good results.

(five-0) Have any of you checked with AWR and their custom Nology set ups? Proven performance improvement especially at extreme cylinder pressure. John Force runs Nology. AWR has customized the set ups for coil on applications so you can use the Nology wires AND use your stock coils. I run them on my RX-7's and Spec Miata too. AWR is who builds all of Mazda's Factory Supported race vehicles here in the USA.(five-0)

I gapped my plugs closer, and I seem to have picked up some more power up top. I still think I need a stronger spark though. I am gapped at .22-.23

Good to know that you took my advise!
