best turbo msp can get?

I agree with you Binary, the turbo will be my last upgrade. I believe the turbo is one of the reasons we bought the car, so why fix it if it isn't broken? When I do upgrade the turbo it will be toward the point when my stock turbo is getting older. I make good money, but I don't have a bottomless pocketbook. When I do replace it, it definately will be with a better turbo though.

Where is everyone getting there GT28RS's from and how much are you spending? If it just bolts on it would be very simple modification when tuned correctly with emanage, etc.

Of course you might want a turbo back exhaust and front mount to support it.

the stock GT25 with a little porting and polishing along with a machined comp housing and bigger comp wheel will get you 328whp @15psi. Our target is 360 to 370whp with more boost.

Sorry for the dumb question but there are been so many numbers spewed out that I got lost. The GT28RS is the Disco Potato right? Is it true that it will actually spool up faster than ours along with making more power? Just trying to remind myself so I don't forget again.

The T25 is only efficient to between 230-250 hp unmodified. The GT28R to about 280, the GT28RS to about 320, and the GT30R (hiboost's project) to 500hp. The thing is that Garrett lists the min HP for an efficient GT30R at 350HP. I am thinking as soon as you install that kit your car is no longer a daily driver. Garrett recommends for between 200 to 420HP on a 2.0-2.7L engine, so this would be ideal for dual maps. The bad part about the GT32 is that it is a journal bearing (not ball bearing), which means slowing spooling. If I upgrade, I will go with the GT28RS because I plan to get between 320-350HP on mine. I will be keeping an eye on the success of those who buy the Hiboost kit though.
We are going to use a custom turbine housing which will make the turbo spool faster. The manifold is going to take both the GT25 style and the T3 (GT30) style bolt pattern. The available turbine housings will be .48 AR, .63, 82 or 1.06 ARs. So it will be very versatile upgrade. From 250 all the way to 500 HP.

I will keep you updated. The manifold should be ready in about two weeks and it will be a four into one cast iron header with a Tial wastegate port on the collector with a 2.5 ID cast downpipe. The turbo inlet will be facing the same way as the stock turbo and it will include all oil lines. It is going to be the best available.

Juan, have you come up with a price quote, or even a price range for the new hiboost kit that includes everything (turbo, forged internals, fuel injectors, engine management, FMIC?)

Sounds good. If I don't have to make major modifications from my current config I might just get this. Sounds like you guys are getting innovative with your ideas. Interested.

I was in a turbo shop here they other day, and they were telling me about a t2/t3 hybrid? Anybody know anything about that. He said with a .43 or .48 wheel it will still spool quickly and produce good topend with 9-10psi.

for daily, i think the gt28rs is a good match.

contrary to popular belief, i think people can run the the gtrs on the stock msp ecu. I ran a gt28rs with bigger comp wheel on a flashed msp ecu and was getting 11.5afrs up top at 10 psi. No problem at all.

Someone needs to get a damn wideband and throw a gt28rs on the stock msp computer and put it to about 9-10 psi and see what afrs you get. I bet a lot of you would be pleasntly surprised.

wouln't even be as efficiant as our stock turbo, and it probaly isn't water cooled
the stock manifold would not work at all.
