also best time to get a car is toward last days of months...

i got mine last day of the month.. and dealer had to sell certain # of car each month.. in order to get that quota... a Mz5 needed a new home..

Hi,

Looking for some shopping advice -- we are planning on buying a Mazda5, but the only question is when? Will be buying the car on S-plan so no need to haggle / "negotiate", but want to catch the best rebates possible. When would be the best time to buy (e.g., when will the model year cutover will be?Aug?).

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Start keeping track in early August, but August/September is probably right around prime time for dealers to start clearing off 08’s. Bwa ha ha! I started reading it and What the hell? How is dreamym5 already agreeing with jandree22 if he has not posted anything? That is what I call trust and belief (lol2)

The only reason for this I can think of is that the server was out of service for a couple of hours this morning and its clock got reset. It was off-synch by 2-3 hours until it got corrected.

My only suggestion is: buy the last day of the month, dealers have monthly quotas and won't let go of a sale . It happened when I got my 06, only problem is the dealership was so packed (serious) that I had to wait 2+ hours to get all the paperwork done. The only upside is that I had time to play around with all the toys in the showroom (Mazda6s, RX-8 Shinka Special Edition, Mazda3i, Mazda3s, Mazda5 with Nav (but auto )...)

I bought mine on December 23rd. I basically told them here is the price I'll pay, and here is what you'll pay for the trade in. I could hear the manager shouting at the sales rep, but in the end the deal was done. The manager refused to shake my hand though...

Here is what you have to remember - no dealer makes up a loss on volume! So they made money. Might not have been good money, but they made it. If your goal is to make them lose money, you'll never do a deal.

I would say the best time to buy is when you have the money in place and the car suits your needs. Then negotiate a great deal!

I'd say the best time to buy would be the day that you are willing to get out of the dealership not driving your new car. You guys know what I mean (wink)
