2007 Mazdaspeed 6
as reading though the car and driver article i noticed this at the end

"
This year, the scrappy Mazdaspeed 3 easily landed on our 10Best list. If you own a VW GTI, be real, real sure you can spot the difference between the 3 and the Speed 3."

i dont know about you guys, but i was having a hard time picking between the two cars, but I went with the MS3 and i'm very glad i did, these seem to agree. haha

cheers(yes)

"My car can kick your car's ass" - me

But seriously, my favorite quote has something to do with the MS3 slapping the other cars silly. I really wish I could find the article.

if i had to choose, i would've picked the VW only and only because it's proven. that would've been it. my faith in mazda isn't that strong after the experiences people here and myself have endured with the msp. i really hope that to all who bought this car, that they shall not experience serious problems like people with the msp have had.

How about these for a start?

Modified Magazine, January 2007. In the article they compared the Stock MS3 with the Mazdaspeed Accessories MS3. The Mazdaspeed Accessories MS3 includes CAI, catback and coilovers.

"The 'Accessories' MS3 sounded like a pissed off wolverine and had acceleration to match."

Car and Driver Magazine, November 2006 MS3 road test.

"... It'll run off a GTI and slap a Civic Si silly."
"... Ready to murder WRXs by third gear."

Automobile Magazine, November 2006

"Speed Racer's Mach 5 disguised as an affordable hatchback."
"The coolest thing about the Mazdaspeed 3, after it's lust for felonious velocities, is that it goes about its business without drawing every donut-eater's eye.

I love my MS3 and after i whooped up on a new 07 GT Stang, i was really sold on the car. The true test will be reliabilty and service. My mom has owned a Mazda since 1993 (929 and tribute) both of which she loves and has never had any issues. i hope for the same service from my MS3.

I will say this, although others were plagued with issues from VW i had very few issues and they cleared them up for me in a timely manner. Hell they replaced the engine in my VW last Feb. Thank got for the powertrain warranty.

its not the matter of how timly parts can be replaced in a car, its the fact that you had to replace in the first place. honestly in today's world, i truely think that car makers have the means to test the reliabilty, quality, strength, etc etc, before they lauch it in the market. However, keep in mind that car companies of the old, that had major problems are working hard to change their image. The one example i have experiance with, is my 96 maxima, problems all the time, but now, the new maxima, much much better car, and truly worth its money. The same goes for VW and mazda. Mazda has really gotten their act together and the major problem with the msp was, its lack to research and development prior to launching the car. They did what most people do, upgrade bits and peices of the car and try to sell it. However this is not the case with the MS3. And this is shown in the sales numbers of new generation mazda cars. The last problem i could think of with mazda was overrating the rx-8 and even that is not a problem now. However on the other hand, My friend and I both bought brand new GLI in 2003 and have had issues non stop. He is going to sell his for a BMW, I've already gotte rid of mine for the MS3. I learned to make the compromise in styling, granted i dident really like the look of the ms3 over the GTI but i after seeing some of the aftermarket products that will be coming out, i'm sure i can figure something out.

any idea when mazda is going to update the website with products for mazdaspeed 3?

I sent an email to Mazda and this is the response I got:
Thanks for contacting Mazda.

I don't have an exact date yet as to when all the 2007 accessories will be made available on our website. I do know that our Internet Marketing team along with our Accessories department are working together to make this available soon.

Consumer feedback is always very important to Mazda. Rest assured I have documented your suggestion for our corporate record. These records are continuously being reviewed by our Internet Marketing team and Accessories Department in an effort to provide only the highest quality products to our customers.

Again, thank you for contacting Mazda.

All cars have some issues. I think the internet is a good tool for finding information, but it's also good for starting fires. I don't know the MSP problems that were out there. I know no history.
I only know that one person has a problem and 4000 people worry about their car having the same problem. It's very prevelant in the motorcycle forum world. The current issue with the MS3's intake runner control switch is small potatoes to me. My problems with my VW were bigger and a lot more problematic. Is that to say all Mk4 GTIs are junk? Of course not. All it takes is one bad mechanic, one missed diagnosis, or one failed part to start an avalanche of piece-of-shitery.
I try to take everything I read about cars/bikes with a grain of salt. I talk to people who own them. Usually one on one. Not someone whose friend had one and sold it because of XXXXX. I take those stories as being mostly anecdotal. I think Consumer Reports is ok to use as a reference point but still has its own flaws.
I think people who buy cheaper cars are much more critical if they have an issue. If I bought a $130,000 porsche I might forgive the occaisonal check engine light because it's such a car of passion. If I am driving around a 2007 Hondiasung Crapbox Spec V, that I paid $8800 for brand new and have a small issue, I'd probably be pissed off wicked bad. First at the fact I have a new car with a CEL, and secondly because I am driving a 2007 Hondiasung Crapbox Spec V. Who's gonna give the more favorable report to Consumer Reports when they send out their random questionarre?

Besides, Crapbox drivers will probably miss oil changes, auto trans fluid interval changes, and will generally drive their cars into the ground more than someone who busts off 130k in chedda for his Por-Sha.
