Best headers?

I need info on the Genie header. I was considering the OBX, but the Genie looks like a good quality 4-2-1 header, and isn't it true that 4-2-1 yields better gains than 4-1?
yes. they get the power earlier in the rpms

i'd be IN for a GB of OBX but not unless a pre-soldered MIL elim. was included, and gaskets etc., i.e. absolutely everything needed to install except tools included

i have no desire to do any more work than i absolutley have to
i've done way too much soldering in the last 15 years to want to bother with it any longer

You dont need to solder at all, just use the spark plug non fouler fix- it took me 2 min to make and 30sec to install.

agreed, nonfouler is the way to go...
I've seen threads of people having problems with the capacitor trick because of too low voltage, etc, etc and not a single complaint out of those people who have used the nonfouler.

just curious, does the OBX header allow us to keep both cats, and if not do u know which header does??

no, OBX and Ractive remove the first cat. The only one that preserves both cats is the Wagner shorty header. I honestly don't know that it would do you much good if you didn't get rid of that first cat, very restricting...

man, why would anyone want to have the precat to remain if you are paying the money for a HEADER??? So you have better flow to the precat? Just doesnt make sense if you can just buy a header and mil the o2 for the precat to waste it on a shorty....

cool looks like im goin with OBX then and screw the DMV (moon) , theyll never see my car again - i know there was a GB on the OBX, anyone know of a new one starting up??

Send Ken (Captain KRM P5) a PM and see if he will start up another one, you can probably get another 10 pretty easily is my guess. The last one took, what, 48 hours to get enough people?

thanx mogi, just sent him one now

Installed Racing Mazda 4-2-1 system last weekend. Black jet-coated header after removing second EGR boss below top boss welded on for Proteges. Second boss is welded shut, but for appearance removed it. Header originally designed for Probe, but fits perfectly; J-pipe and mid-pipe bolted in perfectly--no leaks anywhere. Left the J-pipe chrome--can't see it. Midpipe is finished in black (dunno).

Installed second 02 sensor/spark plug extender fix in J-pipe bung and threw a CEL within 150 miles. Have an uninstalled resistor/cap MIL fix, but worked with a very sharp Mazda wrench and mucho $$$ OBD reader, and think we've come up with a simple, quick, virtually no-cost mod to extender that will definitely end all CEL problems. Installing today. More on this after I run a couple of tanks of gas or throw a CEL, whichever comes first.

Performance: quicker throttle response, smoother runup from idle , and definitely quicker from 3500-limit--acceleration is linear, no sags, no flattening out at the top. Dynoing shortly and will post results based on last previous dyno run--all mods are dynoed as they're added, so a true baseline is available for the latest.

Since both cats are gone, system is louder even though my Magnaflow CB contains a resonator. Since I'm not into "look at me" sound, I'm moving the resonator forward and adding a 22"x4" diameter Magnaflow muffler to quiet things down.

More after dyno and extender mod.
OBX is also only a 4-1 header where the AWR is a 4-2-1 giving better gains. I have a used AWR header that Im planning on selling (along with a few other things i just haven't started a thread on it yet) since I just got a mazdaspeed all my money is going into that rather than my mp3. so if you would consider an awr ill sell mine for $250 shipped.
hey man would those fit on my MP5? [/SIZ (cheers) E]
