Best gas mileage I've ever had . . .

damn im jealous of some of you guys! i get around 200-250 miles to the tank which is around 13-16 mpg. also with the ap how would that improve my gas mileage by tuning the car? would it limit the rpms that i can hit like for vale service.......or what would it do???.....also i just changed my air filter and spark plugs and my mpg still blows!

oh by the way when i hit 250 mpt every shift is at 2k or lower...even the grandmas behind me honk that i accelerate like a bi*** :)

With the AP you can calibrate the MAF sensor, tune for better/efficient AFR's, alter timing. All things that Mazda should have done from the factory but just aren't economical to do on a mass-produced vehicle line.

Translation for all of us Americans:

Driving on the highway I set the cruise control @ 77 mph (I'm in the cold white country to the north) . . . travelled approx 373 miles (there & back, uphill both ways) and got my best gas mileage (is their such a word as "kilometerage"??? (metric system fail)) ever . . .24.6mpg . I slowed down a few times as I passed through small villages on the tundra.

That's the payback for staying out of the boost!

cheers.

:)

I lol'd at work

hmmm ok and is the map for that easily accessible or would i have to go to a performance shop so they can tune it or w.e???

Did my first all highway trip with the MS6 last weekend. I got almost exactly 25mpg. I was going around 80mph with the AC on and it in the low 90's. I have the Cobb stage one map. City I've been seeing 17/18mpg.

The maps are free to download at either www.cobbtuning.com or www.mzdspd.com. You can also go to a tuner who is Cobb endorsed for a professional tune. There are options for e-tuning as well.

Given different environment differences from you to me as well as manufacturing tolerances that create different engine performance parameters, an OTS map alone won't net you the absolute optimum results. You have to tweak them a little bit.

hmmm now im just wondering if spending the 600 is worth my money since i only got a cai. Also, i went on cobb website and looked at their dealers....how experienced and trained are the dealers that cobb picks out? Since i drive in the city im wondering if the gas saving mode or w.e u want to call it would give me better gas milage than 15mpg and 250 mpt....

I thinks me must get one of these things. I'm averaging about 460km's to the tank and that was with the Falken Ziex 912s which is a decent low rolling tire. Mileage with my snow tires is only down to 420 (no not thaaat 420). I'd like to see that improve. But me and my leadfoot have to work that out.

Conversely, I averaged 12kms to the L in stock '96 Sierra (5 speed 4.3l v6 vortec). Odd to compare that engine and a turbo'd 4 cyl 2.3L that essentially blows it doors off.

I used an economy 91-map via the Cobb AP a couple of weeks ago to drive five hours to my hometown. I stayed at 75mph on the interstate, with a couple of stops on the way for food and restroom. I got 39.1 miles per gallon average for the round trip. I'm no hyper-miler or anything like that, so don't accuse me of that kind of sillyness!

OK, I get what you are saying, but I'm going to have to hear from some others out there with a Cobb. That really is tooooo good to be true. But if it is, I will have a Cobb.

While the Cobb AP is huge for performance, it also is fantastic for economy as well. With my tuned power map I usually get 25 city and 32-34 highway. The extra 5-7 mpg are welcome to me!

Is there any risk of running the Economy mapping with the SRI? According to the mapping release notes, it is only intended with the stock intake:

Economy Mode 91 v106 - Intended for an otherwise stock 2006-2007 MAZDASPEED6 vehicle
with a STOCK FUEL INJECTORS and STOCK INTAKE SYSTEM ONLY. Requires a minimum of 91
octane petrol. Low boost, increased ignition timing, leaner fuel curve, and lower Rev
Limiter for optimal fuel savings. Not a performance calibration and not recommended
for aggressive driving. THIS MAP IS NOT INTENDED FOR SPIRITED DRIVING. Rev Limit
lowered to 4800 RPM. Speed Limit Lowered to 100 MPH.

Wow, seeing some of you guys get in the 30s with your MS6s I am now interested in buying one all over again! I'd love to get a hold of the Cobb Fuel Econ map, I do mostly highway driving and if I'm getting around 30mpgs on premium gas, I'm pretty much sold on a MS6. Any thoughts on a high mileage car? I'm talking 100K miles or more.

There's always a risk of running any AP that isn't a stock AP with or without mods.

But to answer your question, yes there is risk but minimal at most. I drive with economy on 90% of the time since I work from home and only travel from Columbus to DC (well PA but I then drive to DC the next day). All 375 miles are done on 1 tank with some to spare. WOOT WOOT! :)

How do you guys think this economy map will do under some "load". I will be going for a road trip in the next couple of weeks, i will be going through the Rockey's up some mountain passes with the family (me, wife +2 kids). The car will be fairly loaded up in the trunk plus a roof top box full of stuff. I have an 06 SPD6 with 80k KM with the SF intake and stock spark plugs and a brand new turbo replaced last week at the dealer (yay). I have the COBB AP but have not yet installed it, plus i do have the ITV22 cold plugs in the garage waiting for install as well.

Should i try this economy map for my trip?

I can contest to that using the AP & getting 34-39 mpg highway driving & staying out of boost driving at 75-78 mph ,I AM SERIOUS as god i drive 46mile to work & 46mile home 5 days a week with 1 full tank of gas ,but having to put gas in after i reach near to home ,note still had enough gas to move around with but did not want to risk burning up my intank pump with gas been low in tank ,so yes u can get good mileage from a speed6 if & only ifffff u stay out of boost .
