I need some help on finding the best digital camera with at least 4.0 mexapixel in the price range of 200-250. Thanx

Well it really depends on what kind of photography you want to do. I pulled these from Consumer Reports 2006 Buying Guide. Hope it helps.

Compact Cameras:
$180 3MP Canon PowerShot A510 (CR Best Buy)
$250 4MP Kodak EasyShare Z700
$250 5MP Olympus C-5500 Sport Zoom

Subcompact Cameras:
$240 4MP Sony Cyber-shot DSC-L1
$210 4MP Sony Cyber-shot DSC-P73
$200 4MP Olympus Stylus Verve

Advanced Cameras: If you don't mind spending a little bit more for great cameras, you might want to check out these advanced cameras:
$300 6MP Fujifilm FinePix E550
$270 4MP Olympus C-765 Ultra Zoom
$300 4MP Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z2

a canon sd300/400 or a nikon coolpix 5200/4600/5600 are in that range as well.

i have the konica minolta z3 and now minolta has released the z5. the best part about this camera is the fact hat it has an optical " anit-shake" and it is the first camera do have an optical, there is another camera out with it now, jst cant remeber the name of it. i bought mine at buydig.com and got it for 200 less then all other competiton.

I do a lot of photgraphy and IMO this is the best point and shoot camera you can buy for under 3-400 dollars n e ways, it is really advanced, it has a 12x optical zoom and 4x digital for a total of 48x, most cyber shots are limited to 3-5x optical which is not a problem if you are just taking quick snapshots of your car or somehting, but if you want anything longer range the 12x zoom is awesome

2 words--Canon Powershot!

canon powershot a520 is a nice point and shoot which I got my sis for only $167. Personally I'm more of an SLR guy but this little thing still impressed me!

I just bought one, only mine's the Ex 505 I think.. I also ordered a New fuji S5200 to add to the collection. These are the first ones I've bought that arn't minolta. My others are Minolta Z1 and Diamage 7i

I'm gonna vote for canon powershot also. Not sure what the latest greatest model number is now, but when I got mine I did a lot of comarison, and it had the best features for the money.

This is a pretty good site to use for comparing cameras.

Subscribing...I want to get a camera with those similar specs too...good to hear what other people's opinions are...

I just did a quick search and what I found was...
(Actually these are under $200...on this website: http://www.digitalcamera-hq.com/4-megapixel-digital-cameras-ratings.html)
Nikon Coolpix 4600
Kodak EasyShare Z700
Canon PowerShot A520
Sony CyberShot S60
Nikon Coolpix 4800
Sony CyberShot S90
(You can get a 5 megapixel for between $200 and $250...hmmm)

I've been hearing praise for cannon from all the photo junkies I know but last year it was fujifilm but I've always been parcial to minolta I bought my diamage 7i because it had the option of a 20gb micro drive atatchment. I never bought the drive but the camera was spactacular. At $700 back in 2002 it was a steal. For under 300 bucks you can pic up a nice cannon but if you can find one for that price range I would look into panasonic. they are made by leica. the sonys have nice carl ziess lenses but that's about it. the best sony I've seen and the only on I accually liked was the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F717. they started about $800 but you can still get them about $600.Sony SLRs suck the big one.

I love my Powershot SD300. It's a kickass little camera, and came in handy this summer on my road trip. From the time you press the power button, it's ready to shoot in less than a second, the autofocus is easy to use and easy to see where it's focusing, and it takes great pictures (see sig for an example)

I've recently went through the same comparison shopping exercise when buying a simple cam for my mom. My budget was closer to $150 for a camera, though. In the end it came down to two models:

Canon PowerShot A520
Sony CyberShot S60

I purchased the Sony for my mom. Based on look, feel, and overall layout of the camera controls I felt the Sony was a better buy. Not to mention that Best Buy offers it for $162. Couple that with a 1GB memory stick for another $90 and you are in good shape. Note that the camera and memory stick both have rebates going on right now as well - or at least did when I bought it the other day.

hey guys, for the most part all of these cameras are going to be about the same. I'd go to CC or BB and play with them to see what I like. Just because it has good specs on paper, it might be a pain to use..

I was going to get a Sony before, but after going to the store to play with it, I hated the feel and the way to access the features. I ended up getting a Kodak. DX7630(?)

But this will be my next camera: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=2&productNr=25215# (currently sporting a D70) Price has come down on it, Only $3300. I have mixed feeling about the fact that Nikon still doesn't use a full framed sensor like Canon. But I got too much invested in lenses to go to the 'other side'.

You gonna sell your car for that camera? Lol. That thing is nice though. Has everything I would want and mucho more.
