Best Color for the Proteg5?

Yellow all the way!!!
It is flashy, arrogant, loud & you can't miss it. Like me
I even told te dealer that if they couldn't find yellow, I didn't want the car.
The reason I don't like black is not because of the colour itself. I happen to be fond of black. When I was younger, I had a Dodge Stealth RT which had many black accents. The Stealth in black just looked like it was all one plain colour. For the same reason, I don't think the Protege/Protege5 looks good in black as it too has black accents.
Lazer Blue, on the other hand, would be my second choice

I wanted black but couldn't get it so I got Silver. I'm really happy with the way the silver looks, but still prefer black. One thing for sure is I'd rather have silver in the winter. It stays cleaner where I live because of the dew in the morning. If I had black, cleaning would be an ass.

Yellow: beautiful. But I'm 34 and I couldn't see myself in "look-at-me!-yellow" at 40 (yes, I plan on keeping this for a long, long time). If I were younger... YELLOW.
Midnight blue: Love it. As I was signing the papers I saw an '02 midnight blue and I thought for a moment "I screwed up".
Black: As my ex-gf put it: "You wear black all the time, so get the black." 'Nuff said.
Now if I can just deal with black paint, black interior, Texas heat, and a reportedly poor A/C... D'oh!

Washing the car...
I've had the Black Mica MP5 a week now and it's dirty. NOW I want the yellow one big-time. Plus, I keep seeing yellow ones in all the advertising and I wonder if I should have gotten yellow... (The dealer said they didn't have a yellow base model, but they might have been hiding it, knowing they could sell it for more then the price in the newspaper. There was one in their online inventory from mazdausa.com, but they don't update it regularly so they might have been telling the truth.)
What do you wash this thing with? I've never had a new car before. I guess I'll got to Target and buy some gentle car wash. I'll check the manual and see what they say. Someone told me today to hand-wash a car the first year so the paint can completely cure. That's weird, but I've heard weirder than that that turned out to be true. Any thoughts?

I was also told by the dealer that there weren't any yellow's available, this time with the sunroof & a/c. I basically let him know that 'yellow' was the deciding factor in my Mazda purchase and if it wasn't available, I didn't want it at all. Next thing I know, they had it in less than a week. In fact, just after my car arrived to the dealership, it was sent to get the leather trim/interior installed. During this time I had to go back and sign a few final papers & there was ANOTHER yellow protege5 for sale there, also with a/c & sunroof!!! Simply put, dealers have to get rid of their cars. As a result, they push what is selling the least, especially if it's sitting on their lot.
They're all sneaky in some form or another. Just keep your eyes open.

I agree with an earlier thread- all the colors for the Protege are nice- Mazda did a good job chosing colors. I only personally like the Laser Blue and Yellow because they are the most eye catching....and the most rare. The rarest being Laser Blue.....I still have yet to see another one like mine on the road in Jersey.

Does black really look dirtier then other colors? I've had my Black Mica car since October and well I wash the car at least 1 time every 1.5 weeks but I never really need to I just wanted to so it would be shinny, but never dirty enough to really tell if it was dirty. I do give a good wax job so dust particles don't ever stick on. I drive in a lot of dusty areas (wish I didn't), and a lot of road constuction areas, plus damn dirt lot at College. Still dust and dirt don't ever cling on.
It's been raining super hard here in San Diego for the last 2 days(believe it or not) and well I'm surprise by car still looks clean, even though I was hella mad because I just washed and waxed the car 1 day before it rained. Maybe the dust and dirt where I live and drive is black, so you can't really tell. But my wheels do get super dirty and that pisses me off, I guess I'll go get me some black rims, that be sweet.
Come on guys black is only ahead by 1. I fear look-at-me-yellow is going to get their last laugh.
