best bang for the buck exhaust

hey, i don't have a whole lot of money to spend on a cat-back exhaust now but i have enough to get a geet 2.5 or 3" exhaust. i was just wondering what exhaust out there that is cat-back is the best for the price. i know the corksport power series is really good but it replaces both cats and not making it street legal. thanks in advance. . . chris

catback will not make a huge difference. i say you go with a dp w/ hiflow cat if you want real gains. apex motorsports offers one.

Listen!

Buy a magnaflow 2.5in canister muffler or a tsudo 2.5in muffler. Bring it to your local exhaust shop and have them run some tig weld some mandrel bent pipes like i did. Total cost for me was 230. Sounds awesome and looks awesome. Im gonna get some pics and video clips up soon. I have a magnaflow muffler with 4inch tip and 2.5in from my apex DP all the way back. They also welded another hanger on my muffler so there is no need for kartboy hangers. I absolutely love it!

i wanted custom but no exhaust shop around me does mandrel bends just crushed bends. i'm already getting the apex downpipe i just ordered it but i need a good cat-back for a good price

all the aftermarket systems out range from 450-550 + shipping so you can't go wrong with any of them. it just depends on the style, piping diameter and sound that suits your needs really.

2.5 or 3" is what i want with a throaty deep sound. . . . 450 is what i'd like to spend but i will spend 550 if i have too. any suggestions?

honestly the difference between mandrel and crush bends isnt that huge.

mattybo<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_925164", true); </SCRIPT> - the differences between crush & mandrel become greater as pipe diameter decreases in addition to when boost increases.

ummm. . . . any suggestions on an exhaust that has a deep throaty sound?? i would like to order it by tues so i would appreciate any responses asap

i understand that, but the differences are minimal. Also realize most of us are only gonna be boosting 10 psi max. If i were planning on going 20psi i would get 3in mandrel but since im sticking to around 10, 2.5 inch is fine. The diameter doesnt decrease by more than a 2/10's of an inch...

mattybo - the main concern about crush bends is not the decrease in diameter per say, but the actual interuppting of flow by the folds in the piping. The interupptions changes the path to which the gas flows as well as the wave properties. Once we have a chance to, we'll be posting some technical reference data on our website in regards to mandrel vs. crush bends for both N/A & FI applications.

there are sound clips and pictures int he Aftermarket Exhaust thread in the MSP section...

Just buy the Greddy SP2 catback. I am running that along with Ion's 2.5 inch downpipe and it isn't very loud at all. Has a nice deep sound to it. Thats my recommendation.

tracknfield - yeah, check out my thread in the msp engine section. or just run a search for aftermarket exhausts. deep and throaty....lemme think. probably jic, greddy's, or thermal's will produce something you're looking for that's in your price range.

mattybo - lemme know when you get those recordings. i'll add them to the exhaust thread :).
