Best bang for buck modifications?

Flywheel Questions

I don't know much about the flywheel upgrade. I have a Thermal cat-back and an Injen CAI right now and plan to stay NA. Is a flywheel upgrade a good option. I heard it dramatically increases acceleration. Does it decellerate rapidly too? Also, will you see the same kind of performance increase in an auto? What is the install cost?

i can't believe out of all the responses nobody said the most obvious.

nitrous.

it's $500 for a kit $35-40 a fill. for 35-50 whp (pending shot) yes it gets addicting..yes it's not there 100% of the time which can be both good and bad. if used responsibly it can be reliable. you will need a clutch too. but that to me is best bang for the buck.

i blew up my previous car (civic) cuz i was abusing it (had 2 10 lb bottles one for friday and one for sat) heh. but there is no match for $ per hp gain better then squeezin.

I have an Injen CAI and a Thermal exhaust on my automatic P5. Any ideas on the next step? I can't seem to find the best mod. Cams, pulleys, etc. ?

cams are good for about a 10whp gain with both cams....as for pullys no one has dynoed them....with my NA setup I made in excess of 140 whp but remember that was cams, header, CAI, pistons, cam gear.....the list goes one....where as I has in excess of 160whp with my first turbo setup with stock cams and a T25 turbo. My new turbo setup I will have close to 200 whp and be abel to run it safely and monitor it correctly.....whatever route you choose it will never be enough and you will always want more....just to let you know.

Cheapest and best way to go is N/A. you come out cheaper and without more of a headache.

Turbo-2500-4000 big $ ones.
FMIC 400-500 (depends)
Boost controller(190-350) depends
Blow off Valve (175-299) depends
air fuel mixture gauge(50-150) depends
Boost guage (50-150) depends
Turbo timer (150-300) depends

Total $ 3565-5749 Big ones for total of maybe 250@WHP and plus that's not including for labor if turbo is installed.

N/A all Motor:
CAI 200-350
Exhaust 100-650
Header 170-325
Flywheel 220-400
Clutch 190-275
pistons 100-200
cams 120-220
Ecu CHip 300-750
polished& port 250-400
S-plugs/wires 50-120
Pulleys 200-375
motor mounts 200-400
lighter rims/tires 450-1000
CF hood/ 650-800

Total $ 3200-6265 Alittle more but more of this is done by yourself, plus your N/A and probably would be at 220-230@whp at a car that is lighter and bored out. It's your decision though. I honestly would stick with N/A and come out better and the end. No problem's like my friends Civic SI stage2 revhard turbo that runs low 14's high 13's and has had 3 new tranny's now even including new piston&rods along with new 2 Clutch's.

He has upgraded his internals along with everything else he has modded. Also i don't know if you're familiar with san diego people but, one guy came down here to the valley from the navy base in diego and also is running almost the same #'s as my friends but is running it off of a b20 motor in his SI.

N20 Is a Great Way to go if you are not intersted in spending over $1000.00usd....It's Truly the best Bang for the buck...I am Running a 50shot!

n2o is definatly your best bang, like acid said 1000 bucks, thats the kit and a genx2 upgrade

500- Nitrous Express Stage 1 EFI Kit
400-500 - Gen X2 Upgrade (Purge, Blow Down Tube, Bottle Warrmer, Nitrous Gauge)

either 50 or 75, as long as you do it safely its all good :)

its a fairly simple installation also, with the 1,000 bucks you spend on N/A Bolt ons you could spend it on Nitrous and easily make more power :D

AND on top of that, if you wanna take a step further, get CAI Exhaust, Headers, Camshafts, Pulleys, P&P, thats just going to add to your HP on your Nitrous Set Up!
