Hey all, what do you all recommend for a good solid, not overpriced Alarm/Remote start. I see a ton of DEI stuff all around as Refurbs, to that scares me. Experienced Alarms please chime in (flame)

Also are there any decent plug & play alarms

I dont mind paying a little extra up front for a fairly painless install..... (rockon)

I got the Mazda Factory Alarm from www.mazdastuff.com a dealer in Texas two weeks ago. It was the cheapest deal around - I am in Canada.
Shipping was the same day of the order and all the stuff was in the box.

I did the install myself since it was really easy. Took me 2 1/2 hours since I am not mechanically/electronically minded and was being overly careful. It is plug and play using all the original Mazda parts and will not void your warranty. It has the red LED on the dash and uses the horn and the parking lights.

I am really satisfied with it.

If you don't want to do it yourself, goto your local Car Audio mod and ask them about the best price for an alarm fitted, give them everything you want and they will find an alarm that suits you, microwave, shock sensors, remote start, SMS you, wind windows up etc...
The price of my local mob is pretty good compared to buying the alarm and installing yourself.

true, a fridn of mine got his installed for 300, it has remore start, turbo timer, windows, locks and shock sensor...thne only thing is that now it doesn't work anymore, it doesn't know when the car is running so many times the alarm has gone off while were were driving....kinda funny actually

compustar is supposed to be the s***. I had a DEI Python in a previous car (with remote start). It worked really well. The only thing that sucked was the range of the remote. It had a hard time picking it up when arming and disarming. I could start it pretty far away though. The only thing I don't like about DEI is the 6 tone everyone has one siren. When they go off, no one bothers paying attention.
