Beeping sound from engine compartment

Okay people...here is a new one!! I have an '06 MS6 that I purchased a few weeks ago. Just today, I noticed when I turn the car off there is this consistent "beep" noise coming from under my hood. It took me a bit trying to find out where it was coming from (it sounded like a bird chirping but it was too consistent). Anyway, I pop open the hood and it seems to be coming from the back left of the motor...I'm guessing air escaping from the turbo?? It only happens for 5 minutes or so after driving.
Has anyone else had this experience??
WTF!!

Just making a wild guess.

It may be a water/coolant cooling system to cool the turbo off after shut down. When you turn your ignition off, the coolant system may operate for a set amount of time. During this time coolant flows around the turbo to cool it off. This way it doesnt burn oil.

The beep sound maybe a small electronic pump pushing the coolant.

Wild guess....

The turbo is oil cooled, not cooled by the engine coolant. My guess is that it is the hoses that go to the cabin heat and air. They my be cooling down and making that noise.

I thought it had something to do with the turbo but I had never heard anything like this before. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a vacuum leak or something...
Thanks for the replies...

I'm a detailer at a Mazda dealership and I have also noticed a beeping sound when I'm cleaning up the engine bays on the 6's and the MS6's. It is definitely an electronic sound, not a mechanical or fluid sound.

Can you hear it when the engine is off and the key is all the way out of the ignition? I noticed it when the engine was off but the key was in the "ON" or "Accessory" position thus the electrical system still had power which is what I thought was causing the beeping. I have also noticed it in the non-turbo 6's as well so I doubt it has to do with the turbo system on the MS6's.

Not sure if this helps but I wanted to post up to say that you're not crazy and others have heard it too.

The turbo is oil and water cooled.

False!!!

It is only oil cooled and air of course but no coolant from the motor makes it close to the turbo.

(enguard) Double False ( guess that would make it true :) )

I found this article about the DISI turbo engine:

As high tech as DISI is, it is not the reason the Mazdaspeed3 has so much power and torque. Credit the Warner-Hitachi K04 turbo; the same unit found in the Mazdaspeed6. For a stock turbo, it has a lot of trick features, including a compressor stage supported by a full-floating, journal-bearing, water-cooled center section. Power balance is supported by a 79 trim 50mm turbine stage with an Inconel shaft-wheel mated to a 16.5mm A/R Niresist iron turbine housing. Maximum turbine speed is over 165,000rpm with a peak exhaust gas temperature in excess of 990 degrees Celsius.

So according to this article the shaft connecting the turbine and the compressor is infact water cooled.

My info comes from this website

No, I know exactly what you are talking about. That is a distinct beeping sound that goes off when the ignition is on but the key card is away from the car. The sound I heard was very faint, that's why it took me a couple of minutes to pinpoint it. It has to do with something about the turbo cooling down, I guess...who knows but I will keep an ear on it and let you guys know if anything comes of it...Thanks...

I HAVE FOUND IT!!!!

The source of the beeping sound (atleast for me) was the cooling fans directly behind the radiator.

Go for a spirited drive, come back and pop your hood. Let the car cool down for the 30 seconds or so that is suggested by the manual. Then turn off the car.

Run up to the front of the car and look directly down at the fans, they are running! After about 30 seconds they shut off and make some more beeping sounds.
