250whp...this ok?

so ive been reading up about safely having 250whp daily. heres what im assuming so far. some sort of EMS, forged internals, turbo-back, FMIC, upped boost, and a new clutch. however, when i searched...all the threads were really old, and LOTS of new products have come out since then. so i wanted to see what new EMS could be used and what exhausts and clutches, etc. could be used that werent available a long time ago. also, as far as forged internals go...would i be ok with pistons, rods, and arp studs, or would i need to go all out with something like the MAM block.

note: after this thread dies out more research will be done, a plan will be drawn out, and hopefully by next summer ill be at 250whp. thanks.

EDIT: did i forget any parts in my list up top? its 3 am.

i like my clutchmasters stage 3, but i've heard good things about the spec stage 3 hybrid. as far as the fmic i guess that just depends on who you talk too, but as far as the quality of parts that I've recieved from Beau at MAM they have been top notch quality. I've read alot of good stuff about the Corksport exhaust and everyone that has it seems to love it! Plust it's decently priced. But with the internals some have gone with just the rods, pistons, and bolts and have done well and others have gone with the full block and done real well also. So i guess it depends on how much you wanna spend? don't know if that helps....

John at Airflow Logistics has some economical EMS' out there. For higher nubers you might want to look at his new unit which controls AFRs and timing. I have his older one which just controls AFRs. The MPI is also popular, talk to MPNick at Modern Performance about that unit. MAM also sells it.

What do you mean by bolts? You mean studs for the VC? Are there pistons I can just drop into my stock block w/o any extra work? I want to learn more about building engines. My local shop wants to give me tolerances of each cylinder, etc etc but I don't know what that process is all about and it obviously costs a lot. I figured there would be a piston that fit right in though. Figure that is a funciton of the rings really. Thanks for the help.

i'm sorry, by bolts i meant the arp head studs that beau sells with his rods and pistons..

thats also what i was referring to.

so im ordering some parts this week and next week. this week i want to order the MAM midpipe (w/cat) and the MAM downpipe (any updates on this yet?). after another payday ill order a AFC from dsmconvert. ill be running the fmic map at 8psi daily, and 10 psi if i ever decide to goto the track. by the end of summer ill have an exhaust, which i have no idea what i want yet. im thinking Thermal or greddy sp2. price is an issue, any suggestions?

what should i expect when i hit the dyno, and what should i put on my to do list for the next year or so. by next summer i want to have 250whp.

my setup by the end of summer my setup will be:
HiBoost FMIC
MBC (8 psi)
MAM Downpipe
MAM Midpipe
Exhaust (2.5 or 3.0")
DSMConvert AFC
Boost Gauge

its gonna be really hard to make 250whp w/ those mods at 8psi. lot of people w/ the same mods only get 200-210 w/ those mods at 10psi.

you'll gonna have to up the boost closer to 12psi, or get a bigger turbo to get to 250whp.

good luck!

thats exactly where i want to be. im asking though what else i need to get to 250whp. sorry if i didnt make it too clear. thanks for the responses.

I would recommend getting your LSD welded stronger while you are replacing the clutch.

Also, I would recommend an EMS with timing control if you are going this far.

You could also remove VTCS and port your intake manifold, which seems to help a lot on the top end.

And you might be maxing out the stock injectors around that level?(not too sure on that) So either an additional injector setup, or replacing the stock injectors with something larger. The WRX injectors seem to be a good replacement for the sotck ones.

well w/ my mods at 12psi i made 218whp on a mustang dyno which is right around 250whp on a dynojet.

the only other thing you'll need to your list are larger injectors and a dynotune to be safe.

if you're serious about making 250whp, i would say take out mbc and afc ... get a unichip which controls afc, timing and has an ebc, and tune it aggressively at a unichip tuner. i think it would yield more gains this way.

MPI tuner, that way you can tune it yourself, and you can have online help, plus there is a lot of support behind it
