Just curious if its official yet... I dont mean to start another long thread on this topic.. simple 'yes' or 'not yet' or 'use the damn search and find the thread from hell' would suffice

For the lazy "2009 Mazda3: The suggested retail price of the 2009 Mazda3, in sedan, hatchback, and MAZDASPEED versions, has been reduced by $2,000 on all trim grades, or between 6% and 12% depending on the model. The 2009 Mazda3 GX sedan starts at $14,895 while the hatchback starts at $15,895, and the MAZDASPEED3 at $29,360."

Holy crap thats a huge starting price.

thats Canadian. They always pay a s*** tone more for cars. Thats not the US starting price.

I know, I was just surprised that that is lowered which means it would have been over a $30k car. With how well the Canadian dollar has been doing and being almost equal to the USD that makes it a big difference.

yeppers, it sucks they get taken for a ride on car prices now...I thought there was an article about car manufacturers getting in trouble for still charging so much but aparently nothing came of it...

That's pretty much the same that the car is going for here in Mxico. ($ 290,000 MX, roughly $29,000 USD).

Consider that the base price for a Civic Si is $ 300,000 MX and the base GTI goes for 310,000 MX. The MS3 is actually one of the cheapest (if not the cheapest, I don't remember the price of the sportiest Astra) of the "hot hatches" in our market.

thanks everyone...

On a side note: I wonder how much of the "extra" cost in Canada and Mexico is due to taxes - I would bet a large portion of th extra cost is due to taxes

That's 27,575 in USD. Still too expensive. I can't fathom why any Canadian would own a MS3 for these highway robbery prices.

I could only understand this if all other cars were inflated as well. then it makes sense, if not then fork up the extra and get your butt in an evo X!

Evo X starts at $41,000 in Canada...

This actually used to make sense when the canadian dollar was worth less than US. Now, not so much...

on edmunds (in the review of the 2009 WRX), they mention that the 2009 speed3 will get upgraded dampeners later in the year - which kind of sucks.

unless maybe somebody with a 2009 can check and see what they have.
