beater proteges

Is it just me, or are there a lot of beater proteges out there?

I'd say that at least half the proteges i see out on the road either have giant dents, or headlights smacked in, or the hubcaps on two opposite wheels, or just look like they've been s*** on their whole life.

I can't say that I see as many civics or corollas or even crapaliers or whatever else as beat up as the proteges.

Why don't people care for their pros? Do they just not age well, or what?? It's mostly the dx's or lx's that i see lookin like crap. (uhm)

I'm keepin mine looking new FOREVER

besides people i know from this board, i only know one other person with a protege dx, and she treats it like it was a ******* mercedes.

i hardly ever see beater protege's around here. if anything, in detroit, you see lots of beater ford's and chevy's, not imports.

This might be a shocker to you: but not everyone cares about taking care of their Protege....not everyone is an "enthusiast" - deal with it.

And not everyone that get's into a wreck decides to take the insurance money and repair their car....then it's downhill from there.

I know people with MBs, porsches, and Bimmers that take MUCH worse care of their car than I do.

To 99% of the people out there a car is merely A to B transportation and they buy awhat they can afford. It may be an image thing with some high end cars, but most of those owners could really give a s*** so long as its in one piece.

guy at my work has a second gen with MR7s and a decent custom exhaust...but it has 100s of dings, scratches, etc and ultimatly looks like a beater(shrug)

Reason why it seems like you are seeing more beat up proteges is the simple fact that you drive one. For some odd reason, when you drive a certain car, your eyes are more attracted to similar cars, I honestly never saw so many proteges until I bought one. But I sure saw a hell of a lot of Civics and MBZ 450 SELs

i see lots of old hondas, toyotas and nissans of all types that look like s***. to some people, appearance of their car isn't that important. i've had a sweet dent in mine going on a year now, but i've got better things to spend my money on than fixing that thing. car still works, it's good
