I'm in the process of installing BC coilovers on the MS3. Everything is pretty straight forward except for the rear spring setup. I've never had a car with a separate strut and spring setup like the MS3 has. I get the idea but cant figure out how to orient the spring, rubber cup and adjustment collar.

If anyone has installed these or has some instructions I would greatly appreciate it. I asked the vendor, who I purchased them through (import image) for some instructions and got nothing, so..........

I'll post up some pics in a minute.

Thanks in advance.

*added pics* You can see that with the adjustment collar in the lower perch, there is no access because of the side of the perch come up to far.

the rubber cup goes on the bottom with the knuckle, then the spring then the adjustment collar goes on top.

I tried that but the 17mm bolt that attaches the upper perch to the frame is in the way.

Also what is the large washer and bolt for that cam on the collar?

Here's what i'm seeing, maybe I'm just missing something obvious.

It seems like if I remove the 17mm bolt attaching the upper perch to the frame I could put the larger washer above the perch run the bolt down into the collar housing which would hold it there in place against the spring once it was compressed up against it. I'm guessing that bolt is pretty important though.

You're doing it backwards. The perch and adjusters go inside the lower control arm. The bolt will be face the ground, then the washer, then the control arm, then inside the control arm are the perches then spring and the the rubber piece. It's kind of hard to explain but if you look at it, you'll see where things should go.

yep, i was a little unsure at first too. But the perch and adjuster go in the bottom, adjust it and then mount it in there ;)

Thank you for those that chimed in with some advice. I ended getting them installed after 3 hours of freaking out on the first rear assembly. After that everything wen together very smoothly. No breaker bars needed, everything came of easily and thanks to some of the walkthroughs here used some nice tricks to speed things up.

The only thing I'm having a bit of trouble with now is the ride height adjustment in the rear. I'll call BC up on monday to get some advice there.

No problem. As for adjusting the right height in the rear, you basically have to unbolt the bottom bolt for the shock and unbolt the lower control arm. You also might have to unbolt the sway bar so there isn't any tension and you can access the coils. Yeah, kind of a long process. But if you got power/air tools, it's so much faster.
