I am thinking of getting one..

Cheap, and can add some bass, just looking for some opinions..

Need a little bass, and well being a student doesn't help the budget..

I haven't heard one yet that was worth the money.
Many times they pop everytime you change the friggen radio station. I haven't seen one this year though so maybe they worked that out. I had to try and fix several sold by circuit city last year.

You Get what you Pay for...

I understand your plight - we've all be there.

I assume you are talking Bazooka Tubes?

I also assume you are talking Amplified Bazooka Tubes?

Keep in mind that the cone material will probably be paper and the surround will be foam (these are usually the materials on stock car speakers). They are very light and usually afford a high excursion but will be far from accurate and will not last the elements. Usually just good for a boomy sound coming from the back of yer car. The amp will be about 50W RMS and have little configurability (is that a word?), probably just a volume knob. The crossover will be set at about 80hz depending on what size you go with. This is a good add on / space saver but it may be worth it to save your pennies for a component system - I'm sure everyone else will push you in that direction. Good luck

I have the Bazooka Triangle sub-with about 150 watts going to it. It may not be the most accurate sub in the world, but it certainly puts out a great deal of SPL. I compared it back to back to a Polk/Momo 10 inch, and while the Polk probably needed about 300 watts (as opposed to the 150 I was giving it), There was NO comparison in SPL, impact and punchiness. The Bazooka was simply 5-6 DB stronger across the vast majority of the low end. Ill wait until I get a real head unit and a better Amp before passing complete judgement on its accuracy, but I am completely happy with it. (especially on sale at 99.00 at Circuit City)

I got the 10" amplified off ebay for $150, and the only real issues I have with it are the turn-on thump (BIG turn-on thump) and the fact that the crossover is locked at 65Hz. Other than that, I like mine...
