Battery / ignition problems

Ok so I've been having a FEW problems as of recently..

I had my car parked in my driveway for a few months because I needed a trans.. Just swapped that out on the car and tried getting back on road with some failure..

Firstly, I had apparently tipped over the battery (which is located in the trunk) and it had leaked almost all if not all the acid out and into my trunk.. I replaced the battery with a BRAND NEW one and also clipped old terminal blocks off wires and put on new connections for new battery..

NOW, when I stripped back cable for new connector.. I noticed plenty of oxidation / decay buildup INSIDE the wrapping and ON the copper wire (using 00-welding cable for battery trunk-engine bay)

So the problem is while driving. The car is misfiring and sputtering and wont get past 3000 RPM.. wont even get near boost.. I am suspect of the coilpacks and coil wires. I pulled all 4 spark plugs and they look to be in pretty good condition, BUT I ALSO HAVE SOME OF THE OXIDATION BUILDUP INSIDE MY COIL / PLUG CHAMBERS?!@#!%$

what am I to do? put battery back in engine bay?!@#$ replace ALL wires?!@!$ wtf :( I just want my car back!

help!

Hmm, if its an easy job, I suggest putting the battery back into the engine bay and see if this clears up your issues. If not, look for parasitic draw and make sure your battery is properly grounded.

It's possible the wires have corroded inside, you can hook up a voltmeter and check your system voltage if it's too low the car will do all sorts of crazy stuff

so i put a volt meter on my car before it was on and after...

off = 12.35 V, constant + - 1V
on = 13.4-13.8V
alternator obviously working, but should i be at 14V?

I still had the battery in the trunk for this test because i still dont have brackets to bolt down battery tray.. ill try and get sometime soon. in the meantime, anyone have any other ideas??? really want to get my car back on the road :(

It should be over 14 volts while running, you may have a bad battery connection or a weak battery or the alt could be failing.
