Battery charging?

My 2024 CX-30 2.5 S has sat in my garage for six weeks and not been driven/started as I was indisposed (medical issue). Yesterday, physical therapy "cleared" me to return to my home and with all I've read about Mazda's batteries not being overly robust I was pleasantly surprised that it fired right up.

That said, I figure there must have been some degree of battery drain during the time I was laid up and wondered how much driving it might take to recharge whatever was lost during my absence.

I'd drive it for 20 minutes or so. I just changed the battery in my '21 with a Costco AGM battery. The old one was still ok I think. It turned out to be a Panasonic battery from Japan. They are pretty good. I would keep an eye on it, but not worry too much.

I'm pretty sure you would easily use more battery from one cold start more than letting the car sit untouched for 6 weeks. You're best off hooking it up to a tender or unplugging the negative terminal if the car sits for a few weeks again.

If you regularly drive for at least 20 min, no worries. if most of your driving involves stopping after less than 20 min of driving, then you would probably want to use the tender.
