basic MP3 information...PLEASE HELP

Hey everyone!
I'm a newbie to the list, but not new to owning rare cars.

Can the production number be figured out by the VIN#??

And also, was cruise control an option on the MP3?

Has anyone had a cruise control system installed by the dealer?

Any help would be great....

Thanks in advance....
Bryce

Maybe I don't understand what you were addressing in that post, but I'll check on it again in the morning when I'm not so tired...... maybe it will make sense then,,, : (

1. Yes, for all NON-Canadian's can get the production number by calling the the 1-800- number telling and telling customer service your VIN numer.

2. No, cruise control was not an option

3. ?, im not sure, i think there might be one running around, but im not sure.

all your questions have been pretty much answered.....

as for the curise control....YOUR steering wheel and the steering wheel of the ES and the P5 are different...you see the FACTORY cruise contols are on the steering wheel.....and that would mean for a true factory cruise control you would have to trade out steering wheels....and I am not sure that he wiring is even in the column for you to hook it all up.

i was told that the wiring for cruise is not in the steering column of the MP3. however, i was not going to buy the car w/o cruise because of the driving i do. my dealer had cruise installed at an aftermarket shop before i picked my car up, but didn't charge me for it. i have a stalk for my cruise control on the steering column just under and behind the turn signals. works great and doesn't look that bad. i want to say the after marker shop charged the dealer around $250 to install it, but i don't remember exactly.

The steering wheels for MP3 and P5 should be almost identical.
The control module basically just looks like it snaps into the side of the steering wheel, held between the airbag module and the back of the wheel. Then you just run the wires down through the fire wall. A shop manual would show you where things need to go.
