base radio better in 2014.5 than 2014 ???

:
2014.5 2.5L Touring /w bose
I have test CD I use for audio tests. I adjust bass and treble controls to get best sound. Recently tested a 2014 CX-5 with gated shifter and audio had muddy lows and lacking treble. Just tested a 2014.5 CX-5 with booted shifter and audio was noticeable better!

Was there a change in 2014.5 audio? Perhaps better speakers?

Wound up buying with Bose because base just wasn't good enough for me. Bose isn't stellar, but only option without loosing car settings.

I find my 2014.5 Bose sound great!

I like the straight shifter better than the gated one I test drove. Frankly, that change seemed to even surprise the salesman!

What I believe hasn't changed is the voice recognition system on the NB1. It reminds me of talking to somebody who is hard of hearing with badly adjusted hearing aids.

Obviously comparing the normal 4-6 speaker system to a 9 speaker system is not fair... the head units are the same. Jut buy some better speakers from Crutchfield.com

I think maybe the centerpoint setting makes a difference along with the 9 Bose speakers. Sounds entirely different then the touring audio setup...at least to my ears. I have the 2014.5 GT with the Bose system, and type A straight booted AT shifter. The gated, is type B along with the dash display. Type A allows the driver to change settings, not allowed by the type B display. Audio pilot and centerpoint are two setting included in the Bose type A settings.

In my manual pages 5-37 and 5-38, explain the settings values.
