Balance Shaft Delete [BSD] Kit by hate_romania

You gonna throw 4k my way anytime soon? I have a house to build, lol.

power-wise actually there isn't. there's just the intake, exhaust, header/test pipes, pulleys, ecu tuner, injectors...

I don't think there's an available intake manifold yet

Ignition...turbo timers..all offer more than 3whp.

Lol, since when does a turbo timer add horsepower? Prolonged bearing life != hp. Just what ignition system are you talking about anyhow?

i had this done to my QR25DE... what I noticed was probably in my head. At first you seem to feel the power but there is no real dyno proof that is does gain power with the BS removed... the QR BS was not returnable to stock. in saying that there were no cases of something messing up cause of it. The small things everyone noticed was the exhaust note changing. It got agressive as hell, it was sweet... the vibs were minimal..less then mm installed
... its worth a try.. dont feel right just put it back...

Wow talk about reviving a thread back from the dead. lol Removing the Balance Shaft Delete from the 2.3l will NOT cause damage to the engine unless you do not follow the instructions on how to properly remove it. :) I have done this mod 20k miles ago and engine is still going on strong.

stuff like this (the op post, not threadjackers) that makes me never EVER want to buy a used car. the balance of the engine is for longevity purposes. if there is less vibration, there will be less internal complications due to the vibrations that could occur. this would mostly involve the life of the crankshaft bearings.

and since this makes it seem like all the balancing is internal, this might make it a bit easier to change out something that would make a much bigger difference, like the clutch components, mainly the flywheel. if the flywheel is lighter it will free up hp mostly in the first gears, as well as free-revving faster. and faster revving = better shift quality during quicker shifting applications

From calling Ford and going as far into the engineers as we can. The only conculsion for whay the balance shaft is there is to cut down vibrations.
IF you look at a FORD RANGER with the 2.3 they dont have the balance shaft. Same motor. BUT it was cheaper to add the balance shaft then redesigning the motor. Been runnign my BSD kit with an OIL PAN BAFFLE for 6 months and no issues.
THe other thing i get with removing the BS is instead of running 6 quarts of oil, i now run 7 quarts fo oil. Sometimes a little more oil, will take it a little longer the break down since there is more oil to break down.
