Badge Options...thoughts?

I'm debating on my options for my car, and I've narrowed it down to a few options -

1 - Shave the stock badges off the back
2 - Paint stock badges black
3 - Color match badges to car

Not sure if I'm going to get a different front grille, but that would also follow suit if the stock grille stays.

yep.... the "mazdaspeed 6" badge is only taped on so it's easy/quick to remove and won't leave holes in your trunk that are either unsightly or expensive to have filled/finished

Dang...I was under the impression that everything was stick on this time around.

Badgeless

Hi Guys,

Damn....I too had been considering removing the badges off the rear of my car, they are Mazda Symbol; Mazda 6 & MPS all in chromed look plastic, I had assumed they were simply glued on but if your right I don't want to be left with unsightly holes!
I guess the holes could be filled and touched with a paint pen but it would still be noticeable up close! a professional job would cost a packet.

Does anyone know for sure which emblems are adhesive and which are attached through holes?

Only one that will have holes is the rear flying "M" emblem. The MazdaSpee6 emblem is just glued on and the front Flying "M" emblem is held on by clips. BTW I vote blackout the emblems...

I left my front M alone.... to me it looks like a hole when you paint it black, eh. I did paint my back emblems black though and they turned out pretty well. I wanted to go shaved, but no money to repaint the hatch!!!

Semi-gloss engine enamel ftw!

My Mazdaspeed6 emblem on the rear has been removed, and I just ordered front and rear emblems (less than $40 shipped for both) from onlinemazdaparts. My thoughts are a) remove but save stock emblems b) de-chrome and paint new badges duplicolor gunmetal (slightly darker than my titanium gray MS6) and possibly eventually paint the stock wheels to match. Thoughts?

So no holes on the mazdaspeed 6 emblem . . . Are there any holes on the rear flying M ? I guess it doesn't really matter because you will repalce it. Just want to know before I try to rip it off with fishing line and hair dryer.

Yes there are two holes on the rear flying M. Still approach it the same way: fishing line and a hair dryer, or if you're lucky enough to live someplace warm, just park it in the sun for a bit. The pins are at the junction of the M and the surround. The pins have a little plastic thingy (that's a technical term) around them. Don't make the mistake I did, and try to pull them off from inside the trunk with a pair of pliers (if one person learns from my foolishness, my job here is done). Just work all the way around with the fishing line and gently pull the emblem off.

Wow, just realized how old of a thread you resurrected. If you don't find the other badge thread, here's how mine turned out. I did the bleach removal process then primed, painted Duplicolor gunmetal, then clear.

Thx for the help . Popped my emblems off today. Got my rear flying M swimming in bleach right now. Think im just going to paint it black. Doesnt look half bad badgeless either.

Black looks good, I just wanted to do something different. And if there were no holes, I'd be running badgeless, so I know what you mean. Sand them between bleach applications with a 3M sanding pad (like a sponge with grit on it). I think I used medium. Good luck and post up when you're done.

Thanks, OJ. Really thinking hard now about painting the stock wheels to match. Mr.X has a photoshopped pic, and they look really nice, but he's also lower, so that could be contributing to the appeal. I guess if I don't like it, I can just paint them again---plus come spring I'm on RX8 wheels!
