Backpressure

I would say so. I, however, like alot of torque at lower gears because I like going up and down mountain roads. Once I slapped on an intake and an axle back exhaust, all that went away, but when I hit the freeway I noticed a little bit of gain. It all depends on how you drive. I just hate the fact that when I'm at a stoplight, I know I can't try to race someone.

I don't see why you can't race someone at a red light. You would set up to launch just like at the drag. Plus are cars have more tourqe then most civics. I mean flyin' Protege has a turbo kit that produces more tourqe than hp. I think that the biggest problem is that you were used to something different and now that things have change you don't like it, your not used to it. I garentee you that if you run a striaght open exaust that you will have more hp and tourque then stock.
If you really want low end tourque get yourself a 30 shot set at WOT for the 1k-3k range or get yourself a supercharger. You have to realize that small displacement motors need help a lot of help to have low end torque.
I think that my launches would be better on the drag if I moved my power band towards the high end. I'd get a lot less tire spin. If you want a car that could roll through hills like no other you should have looked at a m3.

Thats it I'm buying cams. Then all I would need is the J-spec intake manafold and I would be breathing free as a bird! 2.5" all the way!

Actually, I forgot who, but someone is making an N/A kit to include a bigger intake manifold. I think it was spool...but I can't remember. Also, to be honest, I'm not used to launching at all.

OK now I realize most of what was said in this thread is true, but remember as much as you increase the air flow out of your engine, you should increase it into the engine also. Meaning a good CAI and intake manifold would really help(especially the intake manifold, huge power gains have been known to come out of good manifolds) and then in the engine you have the intake and exhaust cams which I wouldnt suggest going past the Jspec grind as the more agressive you go in cams the peak power is moved up in the rev range. Then out the engine, header-catbackexhaust.

2.5-3" is about the appropriate range for most cars for the piping being used for all of this.

As for the rpm what do most people her eshift at? I mean I never shift below 4500 and most of the time like to pull it to 5500rpm beofre a shift so I know that when I do shift it will kick into the next gear at 3-3500rpm which is right were the good power starts.

6500+ is just for fun =) and the desire to burn fuel.

Remember in almost every case More Power = More fuel Consumption. period, to make the power you gotta burn the fuel. And for the fun of driving I am more than willing to burn a little extra fuel.

It depends on what mood I'm in and how I feel like driving. If I'm just roling down the street not doing much or really in a hurry I'll shift about 4. I don't want to look like a little ricer now that I got my exaust on there.

For the most torque on a stock P5 engine, the ideal shift would be around 5-5500 rpms. After that you're just losing torque. I've got an injen cai and I still shift around there.

I know one thing is for sure...
You wont be able to sneak up on anyone with your set-up. I have the same set-up and it is louder than I thought it would be. I am going to try and get a high flow cat.

hell no i just installed it its ******* loudest ****** s*** i ever heard...i need to find the silencer for my HKS section

i havent read much about in line silencers...i hear people talking about cherry bomb or something....but with in line silencers, resonators or whatever you wanna call them, what are our options and can someone provide a web address i can have a lookie? thaks

Hey, whatever

Get rid of the torque, our cars have good enough torque to waste it.
You know...try the lighter flywheel, will give a few more HP, which is what you need on that top end that builds slow.

i was meaning a resonator/silencer along the exhaust piping - like where the one is on the stock exhaust system...

so people, what are our options with this kind of resonator/silencer and where can i buy them? cost? etc

Hmm...when I get back, maybe I'll look into taking your advice Igdrasil. My friend was telling me I desperately needed one.

LOL RazorP5... Mine is loud too, I am trying to get a High Flow cat and maybe a resonator to take care of it.

i took off my silencer...**** it, it rattled at low RPMS...so now just watch out, all the birds fly outta the trees when i drive by
